On the afternoon of October 4, Mr. Mai Van Muoi - Director of the Department of Health of Quang Nam province said that he had just sent an urgent document to localities about the Department being impersonated to conduct food safety and hygiene inspections and supervision at food establishments in the province.
Previously, the Department of Health received feedback that some food service establishments received calls notifying them of inspections (attached to Decision No. 115 - issued on October 1, 2024 by the Department of Health on the establishment of an inspection and supervision team for food production and trading establishments in Quang Nam province, signed by Deputy Director Nguyen Toan Thang).
“The Department did not issue a decision to establish an inspection and supervision team for food production and trading establishments in Quang Nam province as reported. This is a fake decision, and the contents stated in this decision are all inaccurate,” Mr. Mai Van Muoi affirmed.
According to the Department of Health, this is an act of forging documents and papers to impersonate state agencies and organizations for the purpose of fraud, violating the law, causing panic and fear for the owners of the inspected establishments. From there, the subjects can ask the owners of the establishments to comply with the contents in order to defraud and appropriate property.
Since the beginning of the year, the Quang Nam Tax Department and the provincial Social Insurance have also issued many notices about a number of subjects impersonating tax agencies, tax officers, social insurance, etc. to contact businesses, business households, and individuals using many tricks for the purpose of fraud.
In response to the impersonation of authorities by scammers, Quang Nam has directed to step up information and dissemination of legal regulations. At the same time, it has provided guidance on how to identify fake documents so that businesses and people can be more vigilant, promptly detect and report to local police to prevent them.
