HCMC - The Duong Quang Ham Street expansion project (Go Vap) is speeding up construction progress, with the goal of completing the expansion to 6 lanes in 2025.

The project to expand and upgrade Duong Quang Ham Street (Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City) started construction in early August 2023.

The entire project is divided into 3 packages: the first package from the beginning of the route (Binh Thanh district) to Nguyen Thai Son street, the second package from Nguyen Thai Son street to street number 2, the third package from street number 2 to Nguyen Van Luong street (Go Vap cultural park).

Of which the total investment is more than 2,300 billion VND, site clearance costs account for the majority, about 1,750 billion VND.

According to reporters, these days the construction site of the project is getting busier and busier.

The 2.5km long road is like a big construction site racing to the finish line. The working atmosphere at the construction site is extremely urgent.

Construction units are mobilizing workers and machinery to compact and pave the road surface and curb the sidewalks to complete the project.

People on both sides of the road are also rushing to repair, build new ones, and complete the final items in time to welcome the new year.

According to Mr. Khac Viet (living on Duong Quang Ham street), the project has completed the clearance work a long time ago and has been under construction for several years.

Currently, the site clearance project is almost complete. On both sides of the road, people have repaired and rebuilt their houses to stabilize their lives.

However, due to the construction process, dust and electric poles are still scattered in the middle of the road, affecting the daily life of the people. Mr. Viet hopes that the project will be completed quickly so that business and life can return to normal.

According to the HCM City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board - investor), up to now, the locality has only handed over the site for 420/425 cases. The remaining 4 cases have not been resolved, causing difficulties for synchronous construction.

"Sections like from Nguyen Thai Son Street to Road No. 2 still have 1 household and 2 bunkers.

The section from Highway 2 to the end of the route also encountered obstacles because of a case of national defense land and a bunker that had not been relocated.

The Traffic Committee recommends that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee soon issue a document reporting to the Ministry of National Defense on the relocation and dismantling of the bunkers.

Go Vap District needs to hand over the remaining land as soon as possible and the electricity sector needs to speed up the progress of undergrounding the power grid and reclaiming existing power poles to ensure that the project can be constructed synchronously and completed early in 2025," said the Traffic Department.

Duong Quang Ham Street is one of the important backbone roads of Go Vap district, sharing traffic with several roads such as Phan Van Tri, Le Duc Tho, Quang Trung... which have often been in a state of traffic congestion, especially during rush hour.

Therefore, when the expansion is completed, the traffic infrastructure in Go Vap district will have many significant improvements.
