The Huu Nghi - Chi Lang Expressway is over 43km long, starting at National Highway 1 connecting the road to Huu Nghi Border Gate, in Dong Dang town, Cao Loc district, Lang Son province; the end point connecting with the Bac Giang - Chi Lang Expressway, in Mai Sao commune, Chi Lang district, Lang Son province. The expressway is invested with 4 lanes, a 17m wide roadbed in phase 1. When completed, the project will be raised to 6 lanes, 32m wide.
The project also invests in two sections connecting Tan Thanh border gate and Coc Nam border gate, 17km long. The two connecting sections have a scale of 2 lanes, 14.5m wide in the first phase, then increased to 4 lanes, 22m wide when completed.

The total investment of the project is 11,024 billion VND, of which the participating state budget capital is more than 5,490 billion VND, the investor's mobilized capital is 5,520 billion VND.
In March, at the project's large construction site, according to the reporter's records, thousands of people and machines were still busy day and night, turning the pristine mountain ranges into a road of trade.
According to the progress report, the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang expressway project is currently entering its peak. The entire route mobilized 1,074 workers and 524 equipment, deploying 40 construction teams across the packages.

These days, on the hillside, the sound of the engine is loud, the sound of cheering, and the command is echoing in the sky and earth. Contractors are in a hurry, committed to ensuring progress.
Talking to reporters, the project's business representative said that the EC01 package, the section from Km1+800 - Km14+500, is currently implementing 12 construction teams with 199 workers and 139 equipment. The work of digging and filling the roadbed, building underpasses for people and drainage systems is being accelerated.
Meanwhile, the EC03 package, section Km30+087 - Km45+100, mobilizes 400 workers and 166 equipment. This is a section with many important items such as bridges and toll stations.

Talking with reporters, Mr. Vu Xuan Huy - Director of the Executive Board of DCT 559 Investment Joint Stock Company - a construction contractor shared: "We have mobilized over 140 vehicles, machinery, equipment of all kinds and over 400 engineers and workers to work on the construction site, taking advantage of favorable weather to construct on the route".
According to the contractor's representative, to ensure the progress, all human resources of the enterprise are mobilized to work until 10:00 p.m. every day to speed up work efficiency.
"However, the " sticky rice and bean" site has greatly affected the construction implementation. Regarding these difficulties, we have petitioned relevant units and local authorities to coordinate and support to ensure the project's progress according to the direction of the Prime Minister" - Mr. Huy said.
According to the report of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee, although the progress has made important steps, the construction site is still facing many difficulties, including problems with site clearance and resettlement areas.

Also according to the People's Committee of Lang Son province, in the first 2 months of the year, compensation and site clearance (GPMB) for the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang border gate expressway project reached 70.33 hectares.
According to the project enterprise representative, the length of 49.43km/59.76km has been handed over. However, the site is still "steady", interspersed with the parts that have been paid since 2018. The total area handed over reached 451.13/557.82 ha (equivalent to 80.89%). Of which, the area that can be accessed for construction is 414.55/557.82 ha (equivalent to 74.33%).
Previously, the Government Office also sent a document to the People's Committees of Lang Son and Cao Bang provinces and Deo Ca Group Joint Stock Company to speed up site clearance and project construction progress to open the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang expressway and Dong Dang - Tra Linh expressway in 2025.
