Northern mountainous region suffered heavy damage due to heavy rain and thunderstorms

Nhóm PV |

Some northern mountainous provinces have experienced heavy rain and thunderstorms, causing trees to collapse, houses to have their roofs blown off and many infrastructure damaged.

According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in Thai Nguyen province, the rain caused some roads to be temporarily cut off, trees to fall, and the light pole and electric pole system to be damaged, posing a potential safety risk.

It is forecasted that in the next 24 - 48 hours, due to the impact of the tropical convergence zone combined with the circulation of storm No. 3 (WIPHA), this area will continue to have moderate rain, heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some places.

The common rainfall is from 20 - 40mm, with some points over 80mm. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of extreme phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

The meteorological agency warns of the risk of natural disasters due to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning and hail at level 1.

Similarly, in Cao Bang province, thunderstorms accompanied by hail occurred widely, affecting many communes and wards such as Hoa An, Canh Tan, Nam Tuan, Minh Tam, Tan Giang, Nung Tri Cao...

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Cao Bang province, there are currently 40 houses with unroofed roofs, dozens of trees broken, and some roads and bridges damaged by fallen trees blocking the road.

In Tan Giang ward, a landslide occurred on a slope with a volume of about 200m3, threatening a residential area near the hospital.

Some public works and people's properties were also damaged, including low-voltage power lines, motorbikes and a system of billboards and urban decoration symbols.

Immediately after the natural disaster, localities have implemented initial remedial measures and continued to count the damage.

Previously, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Cao Bang province issued a document requesting localities to proactively respond to bad situations caused by storm circulation.

People are advised not to leave their homes during heavy rain, proactively leave vulnerable areas and areas at risk of landslides to ensure safety.
