On November 15, in Hanoi, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Information and Communications jointly held a press conference to introduce activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024).
Speaking at a press conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duc - Director of the Propaganda Department - said that "following the success" of the first Exhibition, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense will organize the second Vietnam International Defense Exhibition in 2024, scheduled to take place from December 19 to 22, 2024 at Gia Lam Airport, Hanoi.
Up to now, 140 focal units from 27 countries have registered to attend the exhibition and signed contracts with the Organizing Committee, with a scale of usage area of over 5,000m2.
Among them, many countries with strengths in developing the defense industry in the world such as the US, UK, France, Spain... have registered to participate and display products at the exhibition in Vietnam.
The exhibition opening time starts at 9am on December 19. The second exhibition is much larger in scale and display area than the first.
During the 4 days of the exhibition, in addition to the general activities of Party and State leaders and international delegations, the Organizing Committee reserved a long time for people to visit.
Open to the public from 1:30 p.m. December 21 to December 22 and is completely free.
Providing more information about other commemorative activities on this occasion, Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thuy - Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department - said that many activities have been and are being comprehensively deployed in many fields.
Notable activities include: The contest to learn about the tradition of "80 years of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and 35 years of the National Defense Day"; the peak emulation period "Proud of tradition - Continuing the feats - worthy of Uncle Ho's soldiers"; the political and artistic program "The historical path" at the Vietnam Military History Museum.
In particular, agencies, units and localities coordinated to provide financial support for the renovation and embellishment of places of worship (at home) for 32/34 soldiers of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army; provided financial support, built and donated houses of gratitude, "Houses of Great Unity", "Houses of Comrades", and demolished temporary and dilapidated houses... for local people with more than 23,078 houses of all kinds.
The Ministry of National Defense directed support for the construction of two schools in Dien Bien province with a budget of 120 billion VND; support for 10 projects for military units participating in sustainable poverty reduction, new rural construction, and construction of civil works from the Fund for the Poor.
The 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day will be solemnly held on the morning of December 20, 2024 at the National Convention Center (Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi).
