Many resources in poverty reduction
Buon Don is a border district of Dak Lak province. The whole district has 67,600 people, including 29 ethnic groups. Of which, ethnic minorities account for 51.2%.
Due to the harsh climate and arid land, people mainly practice agriculture, so their income is unstable. According to the People's Committee of Buon Don district, up to now, the whole district has 5,312 poor households, accounting for 29.98%, and 2,486 near-poor households, accounting for 14.03%.
The high rate of poor and near-poor households has posed a problem for the sectors and levels of Buon Don district. Every year, Buon Don district sets a target of reducing the rate of poor and near-poor households and strives to achieve it.
Buon Don district has taken advantage of resources from many programs, including the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction.
This is a major program of the Central Government with many projects, directly targeting beneficiaries who are the poor and near-poor such as: Diversifying livelihoods, developing poverty reduction models; Developing vocational education, sustainable employment; Supporting production development, improving nutrition...
According to the People's Committee of Buon Don district, the total capital plan assigned in 2022, 2023, 2024 is 19,782 million VND. To date, Buon Don district has disbursed more than 8,538 million VND, reaching 43.16%.
Of which, in 2022, the capital was allocated 3,450 million VND. To date, 3,386 million VND has been disbursed. In 2023, 7,192 million VND was allocated. To date, 4,890 million VND has been disbursed. In 2024, the district was allocated 9,140 million VND. To date, 261.7 million VND has been disbursed.
Currently, specialized units are actively promoting project disbursement progress to complete the goal, especially helping beneficiary households to access resources soon.
For the Livelihood Diversification and Poverty Reduction Model Development Project, the total budget allocated to communes in 3 years (2022, 2023, 2024) is VND 8,370 million.
In 2022, the source transferred to 2023 is 1,340 million VND; the budget allocated in 2023 is 3,230 million VND; the budget allocated in 2024 is 3,800 million VND. To date, localities have disbursed 3,950.85 million VND.
Helping people escape poverty
Thanks to resources from the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, many households in Buon Don district have had additional livelihoods, a premise to escape poverty.
The family of Mr. Y Kram Eban (Ea Nuol commune, Buon Don district) has been among the poor households in the locality for the past 4 years. Mr. Y Kram Eban said that his family only has 7 sao of coffee but the land is poor so the productivity is not much.
To earn money to support his life, Mr. Y Kram Eban worked many jobs. However, his family's life still could not improve. The desire to escape poverty was always present in his mind.
Currently, Mr. Y Kram’s family is in need of a new livelihood to escape poverty. Faced with this situation, the local government has decided to award a pair of breeding cows under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction.
Mr. Y Kram was very happy to receive a pair of breeding cows worth 30 million VND. He said that his whole family is currently sharing the grazing of the pair of cows. He tries to keep the cows healthy and fat to increase the herd.
Not far from Mr. Y Kram's house, Mr. Y Nghinh Hwing's family (Nieng 2 village) also received a pair of breeding cows from the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction.
Mr. Y Nghinh said that this is a very practical gift for his family. For a long time, he also wanted to have a pair of cows to raise. However, because of his family's financial difficulties, he has not been able to do so. With the above pair of cows and 1 hectare of land growing coffee, Mr. Y Nghinh will strive to escape poverty.
Up to now, Buon Don District People's Committee has approved 9 projects to support the development of community production of breeding cattle, 1 project to raise hybrid wild boars and 2 projects to support production tools.
Buon Don district is approving 8 more projects to support community development with allocated capital in 2024.
