Based on the existing IC 18 intersection at Km245 (in Xuan Tang ward, Pom Han ward and Cam Duong commune), the project will renovate 2 branches currently in operation (direction from Binh Minh ward, Lao Cai city - Hanoi and vice versa), and build 2 additional branches (direction from Binh Minh - Kim Thanh and vice versa) to create a complete intersection.
The total length of the new and renovated route is about 2.8 km. The starting point is at the intersection with Cam Duong - Thong Nhat route (waiting for planning), the ending point is at the intersection with Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway. The project is invested by the Department of Transport with a capital of more than 50 billion VND.
According to the reporter's records on October 15, the upgrading of the branches of IC 18 intersection has been completed. Currently, all vehicles can move easily and conveniently.
Speaking to Lao Dong, Mr. Pham Minh Hai - Deputy Director of the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Works in Lao Cai Province - said: "Upgrading IC 18 intersection helps vehicles move more conveniently and easily in getting on and off the highway in many directions. Thereby shortening travel time, creating momentum for economic development."
According to Mr. Pham Minh Hai, the renovation of IC 18 intersection is now complete.
"Because it has to go through many stages and management units, for many months we have had to wait for related legal procedures from the Road Management Department. Up to now, all procedures have been completed and the road is ready to operate at full capacity," added the Deputy Director of the Lao Cai Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
The next intersection with expanded connecting branches is IC 19 connecting with National Highway 4E and Provincial Road 155, near Dong Tuyen commune (Lao Cai city).
According to research, the project has an investment of nearly 19 billion VND, including items, connecting roads, drainage system, bridges, lighting, trees...
Project implementation period is from 2023 - 2025. Of which, 8 households in Dong Tuyen commune are affected and must relocate.
When the connecting branches are completed, traveling from National Highway 4E and Provincial Road 155 to Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway and vice versa will also become more convenient. From there, it will meet the increasing number of vehicles passing through Lao Cai.
Mr. Bui Van Tuyen (Dong Tuyen commune, Lao Cai city) said: "Our people strongly agree and support the upgrading of this expressway intersection to increase trade and economic development.
We hope that the relevant authorities will consider the specific factors and arrange the resettlement areas in accordance with our production and business conditions. At the same time, we will soon implement the project.”
Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway has a total length of 263.5 km.
The total investment cost of the project in phase 1 is 19,984 billion VND, equivalent to 1.249 billion USD, of which 1.096 billion USD is borrowed from ADB.
The section through Lao Cai province is 73 km long, passing through 4 districts and cities.
