On July 20, according to the report of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Lang Son province, thunderstorms and lightning caused a lot of damage in the area.
Notably, a resident in Yen Phuc commune died from lightning while planting rice on the afternoon of July 19.
The whole province recorded 165 houses with unroofed roofs, including 125 houses and 40 auxiliary works such as kitchens and barns. In addition, about 40 hectares of rice were affected by flooding and heavy rain.
It is forecasted that from July 21, storm No. 3 in 2025 (international name WIPHA) will cause heavy to very heavy rain in Lang Son. Heavy rain is likely to be accompanied by thunderstorms, whirlwinds, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind, which can break trees, damage houses, infrastructure works and cause severe damage to agricultural production.
During the 2 hours from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on July 20, many places in the province had moderate to heavy rain. Specifically, Hoi Hoan station recorded 33.5mm of rain. In the next 3-6 hours, this area is forecast to continue to have rain with common accumulated rainfall from 20-40mm, some places over 80mm.
The warning level of natural disaster risk due to flash floods, landslides, and land subsidence due to heavy rain or water flow is determined at level 1. Some localities at high risk of flash floods and landslides are Chau Son, Dinh Lap, Kien Moc, Nhat Hoa, Tan Tri, Thai Binh, Vu Le, Xuan Duong.
Flash floods and landslides can seriously affect the living environment, threaten people's lives, clog traffic, destroy civil works and damage socio-economic activities.
In the face of complicated weather developments, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control recommends that all levels, sectors and people proactively monitor forecast information and deploy flood prevention plans that have been developed to minimize damage.
