Ho Chi Minh City - District 8 is expected to relocate nearly 15,000 households to implement the urban embellishment project, renovate the above housing area and along the canals and canals.

On the morning of April 15, the Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc and the delegation directly surveyed the field field in the coastal area of ​​Doi Doi, Xom Cau canal and the plots of land to build resettlement houses for urban embellishment projects, upper houses, canals and canals in District 8.

The Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee affirmed that this is a particularly important project, not only contributing to embellishing the urban environment but also reorganizing the residence for people living on and along the canal in a proper, safer and more stable direction.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, District 8 is also considered as a pilot locality for mechanisms and policies for Ho Chi Minh City to gradually implement the project to relocate all houses on and along the rivers, canals and canals throughout the city.

According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of District 8 Vo Thanh Kha, the urban embellishment project in the area needs to relocate 14,950 households.

In which, there are 9,440 houses built on the canals, 3,473 parts partly located on the canal, 1,589 apartments are completely located on the water and 448 apartments in the old apartment Pham The Hien.

The key areas are within the scope of the project, including: the southern bank of the double canal; East coast and west banks of Xom Cau canal; Rach Du; Ong Little Rach from Ong Lon canal to Kenh Xang bridge; Apartment area Pham The Hien.

In addition, a number of other areas will be relocated in the canal protection corridor, although not expanded.

The total cost of implementing the project is estimated at more than VND 105,179 billion. In particular, about VND 70,100 billion will be for compensation, support and resettlement, corresponding to the land area of ​​124.49 ha.

District 8 will prepare 11,471 apartments for resettlement, including 9,581 units invested by budget capital and 1,890 units implemented by investors outside the budget.

The city is expected to implement 2 social housing projects and 7 resettlement housing projects, total investment capital of nearly VND 14,700 billion.

The project is also expected to invest nearly 2,000 billion dong to upgrade and expand existing roads, especially the bridge routes on Pham The Hien and Bong Sao roads.

More than VND 8,165 billion will be used to build a transportation system along the canal, incision and embankment construction after the relocation is completed.

In addition, 6 parks and green park projects with a total investment of about VND 187 billion will also be implemented, contributing to creating landscapes and community living space for people after resettlement.

In addition to the state budget, District 8 is also trying to attract non -budget investment into housing and transport projects.

At the same time, 4 public land will be auctioned with the expectation of about VND 6,000 billion. In particular, the revenue from the auction of the relocated land area is estimated at 77,500 billion VND, additional additional additions for the budget to implement the project.

Currently, the wards in District 8 are urgently completing the detailed project in each area, on the basis of the Chung Urban Adjustment Project, which has been approved by the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City has about 398 projects related to rivers, canals and canals that have not been implemented in 16 districts and Thu Duc city, with the total number of houses to be relocated up to nearly 40,000 units.

In order to completely solve this situation, the city has built a project to relocate the entire house on and along the river, canals and canals, set the basic goals to be completed before 2030.
