HCMC - Many sections on National Highway 13 in the North of HCMC through Binh Duong area have previously been expanded to 8 lanes.

On December 2, units are urgently constructing many items on the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 13, from Vinh Phu Bridge to Le Hong Phong Street in the former Binh Duong area.

According to records, the section of about 9km from Ong Bo bridge intersection to Le Hong Phong street is under urgent construction at many locations. This section has almost enough land. Currently, there are only a few locations where the electric poles have not been relocated.

In sections with available land, units are taking advantage of the construction. The section through VSIP Industrial Park, Viet Huong Industrial Park in Thuan Giao Ward, has been paved with asphalt with 8 lanes.

The section through Binh Duong Martyrs' Cemetery has also been expanded to 8 lanes. This section is urgently completing the sidewalk.

The People's Committee of Thuan Giao Ward has also completed the construction of the drainage road, pouring rocks, compacting and paving asphalt. People on the roadside can move conveniently in this area.

It is noted that the location near Le Hong Phong intersection (Thu Dau Mot ward) is also being paved and compacted. The road surface in this area has been paved with asphalt with 8 lanes.

At the end of the year, the number of vehicles pouring into National Highway 13 increased. The construction site is often congested. People expect the entire 9km section to be completed before the Lunar New Year 2026. Thereby contributing to reducing congestion during Tet in the area north of the gateway to the center of Ho Chi Minh City.

It is known that the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 13 through Binh Duong area (formerly) started in early 2022. The total approved investment of the project is 6,255 billion VND. The project is being expanded from Ho Chi Minh City to Thu Dau Mot.

Due to land clearance problems, the project is behind schedule. Until July 2025, when Binh Duong merged into Ho Chi Minh City, the project was not yet completed. Recently, agencies of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee have carried out previous legal transition procedures to approve the adjustment of the BOT project as a basis for implementing the next steps.
