Prolonged rain, Suoi Dau Lake in Khanh Hoa will regulate water

On December 15, Khanh Hoa Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited issued a notice on water regulation to maintain the elevation of Suoi Dau reservoir.

According to the forecast from the South Central Region Hydrometeorological Station, from December 14 to 16, Khanh Hoa will have moderate rain, heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain, commonly from 50 - 120 mm/period, especially in the North of the province, some places will have over 150 mm.

At 7:00 a.m. on December 15, the water level of Suoi Dau Lake was at 41.40 m, the water flow to the lake was about 81 m3/s. The highest water level allowed to accumulate until December 31 of Suoi Dau Lake according to the disaster response plan is 42.50 m.

To ensure the safety of the project and limit flooding in the downstream area, and at the same time regulate the water level of Suoi Dau Lake according to regulations, Khanh Hoa Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited announces the plan to regulate the water of Suoi Dau Lake. The expected time to start regulating is from 3:00 p.m. on December 15 to 5:00 p.m. on December 19.

Maximum regulated flow 90 m3/s. Number of spillways open 3 with maximum spillway opening of 1.5 m (gate 2 is 1.5 m; gates 1 and 3 are both 0.2 m).

Khanh Hoa Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited also said that in the process of regulating and maintaining the lake water level, in case of heavy rain in the upstream basin of the lake leading to water flow into the lake being greater than 90 m3/s, the Company will issue a notice to adjust the regulated flow appropriately to ensure the safety of the project and limit flooding in the downstream area of ​​the lake.

During the process of regulating water to maintain the water level of Suoi Dau Lake, combined with rainfall outside the lake basin and high tides, water levels may rise in some low-lying areas along rivers and streams in Suoi Cat Commune (Cam Lam District); Suoi Tien, Suoi Hiep, Binh Loc, Dien Lac, Dien Thanh, Dien Toan Communes, Dien Khanh Town (Dien Khanh District); Vinh Trung, Vinh Thai, Vinh Hiep, Vinh Phuong, Vinh Thanh Communes (Nha Trang City).
