On the evening of October 28, the Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee issued an urgent dispatch, requesting functional forces, units and localities to immediately deploy measures to respond to prolonged heavy rain, the risk of landslides and flooding in the province.
According to the Gia Lai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, from the afternoon of October 27 to the afternoon of October 28, the province experienced moderate rain, heavy rain, and some places had very heavy rain with thunderstorms. The total rainfall measured in the past 24 hours in the eastern part of the province was generally from 30-80mm, some places were very large such as Phu My over 173mm, De Gi 168mm, Phu Cat over 143mm.

It is forecasted that from the afternoon of October 28 to the morning of October 30, the eastern part of the province will continue to have moderate to heavy rain, some places will have very heavy rain and thunderstorms. The prolonged rain on the saturated soil has quickly increased the risk of landslides, subsidence and localized flooding in many places.
Faced with the complicated developments of extreme heavy rain, the Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee requested heads of departments, branches and localities to immediately deploy measures to respond to natural disasters, with the motto "The safety of people's lives and property is paramount and top-notch".
Units and localities absolutely must not be negligent, subjective, organize inspections and reviews immediately of vulnerable areas at risk of landslides and flooding to proactively activate response plans. Resolutely evacuate all people from the dangerous area, ensuring that no cases are left in the high-risk area.
Place all forces, vehicles, and rescue equipment in the highest level of readiness, ensuring quick mobility, and timely response when required. Maintain information and communication smoothly 24/7 with the Standing Committee of the Provincial Civil Defense Command to promptly handle any arising situations.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinates with the Department of Construction and localities to promptly notify owners of tourist vehicles, accommodation establishments, tourist areas and spots about the developments of rain and floods to have a suitable plan of activities, suspend operations when necessary, and ensure absolute safety for tourists.
