On the morning of May 25, Mr. Vo Ta Ky - Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam Due commune (Cam Xuyen district) said that heavy rain on the night of May 24 and early morning of May 25 caused water from upstream to flow quickly, causing deep flooding into the houses of many households in Cam Due, some places were flooded nearly 1m deep.
According to Mr. Ky, many roads in Cam Due commune are currently deeply flooded, causing local isolation.
"Heavy rain, water poured in quickly at night, so many households had rice, chickens, ducks and some other assets gone," Mr. Ky shared.
That same night, local authorities mobilized police, military, and shock troops from villages to evacuate the elderly and children, while helping people raise their assets.
In Cam My commune (Cam Xuyen district), heavy rain and floodwaters rose rapidly, causing deep flooding in My Phu, My Dong, My Lam, My Ha villages with about 450 households affected by flash floods, water entering their homes from 0.5 - 1m, some places were flooded 1.5m deep.
The leader of Cam My Commune People's Committee said that the heavy rain and floods that occurred overnight caused many households to be wet with rice, many chickens, ducks, and pigs were swept away by floodwaters, causing heavy damage.
In Cam Thach commune, water also flooded into some houses, causing rice to be wet and property damage.
