The heavy rain lasted from late afternoon to early morning, causing many areas in Lang Son province to be deeply flooded, especially Na Sam town (Van Lang district), Lang Son city.
The floodwaters rose rapidly at night, forcing hundreds of households to stay up all night, rushing to evacuate people and property to safety.
According to Lao Dong, from around 1:00 p.m. on May 18, Van Lang district began to experience heavy rain lasting for many hours.
At 10pm, water from streams and crevices along National Highway 4A poured into Na Sam town, causing deep flooding on a series of roads. The water level in many places rose from 60-100cm, some sections even overflowed into people's houses.


Mr. Dinh Quang Trung (zone 9, Na Sam town) was still shocked when he recounted: "The water rose too quickly. At first, just behind the door, it was less than half an hour and it was extended across the waist".
According to the update from the people, at 2:00 a.m. on May 19, heavy rain continued to fall, causing many households in the underpass area, lane 7, National Highway 1A to stay up all night to avoid flooding. Many households had their houses flooded, causing deep flooding.
In particular, in the underpass area, water flooded across, causing cars to stall and not be able to move. At the White Gate (Dong Dang town, Cao Loc district), a large amount of water swept away an electric motorbike.

Along with that, landslides and rolling rocks occurred at Bo Cung Pass (Van Lang).
In the face of sudden rising floodwaters, local authorities and authorities have urgently evacuated people.
During the heavy rain, flashlights issued in waves between the small alleys, giving way to groups of people wading through the water at night.
Many people only had time to gather a few sets of clothes, important documents and take their children out of the danger zone.

Heavy rain caused local flooding on many important roads, paralyzing traffic at night. By the morning of May 19, mud, garbage and obstacles swept away by the water had covered the streets, causing local congestion.
Mr. Vu Van Nhien - Chairman of Van Lang District People's Committee - said: "We have directed all on-site forces to support evacuation, set up checkpoints at deeply flooded areas to prevent people from returning home when not safe. The damage is being reviewed. In the immediate future, the government is working with the people to overcome the damage".
As of the morning of the same day, no human casualties have been recorded, but hundreds of households have been affected. Many areas of crops, livestock, and assets were swept away by floodwaters.

According to information from the Lang Son Hydrometeorological Station, convective cloud areas are continuing to develop and cause rain in areas in the province.
The rain mainly appeared from the evening, night and early morning. Warning of possible rainfall accompanied by tornadoes, hail and strong gusts of wind. Prolonged heavy rain also poses a risk of landslides, especially in areas near steep hillsides, slopes, river and stream areas and places that have experienced landslides.
People are also advised to be vigilant and ready to evacuate immediately when there are signs of landslides to ensure safety.
