As of 8:00 a.m. on December 9, 2025, according to an update from Vietnam Electricity Group, Tuyen Quang Hydropower Reservoir, the upstream water level reached 119.62 m, lower than the normal rising water level (120 m). The flow to the lake is at 210m3/s, the total discharge is 184.54m3/s and the whole process passes through the plant, without opening the discharge gate.
In the Northwest region, Lai Chau Lake recorded water levels of 294.74m at 8:00 a.m., near normal rise (295m). The flow to the lake reached 743m3/s, while the total discharge through the plant was up to 1,153m3/s.
Ban Chat Lake and Huoi Quang Lake have stable water levels, low flow to the lake (equivalent to 19m3/s and 5m3/s) and are not discharged.
At Son La Lake, the upstream water level was at 214.65m at 8:00 a.m., 0.35m lower than the normal rising water level. The flow to the reservoir reached 1,190m3/s, the total discharge was 1,121m3/s (discharge through the plant).
Hoa Binh Lake - the most important lake in the lower reaches of the Da River - recorded an upstream water level of 115.93m, with a flow rate of 344m3/s. The total discharge is 902m3/s and is completely through the plant.
Thac Ba Lake had a water level of 57.88m at 8:00 a.m., lower than the normal water level (58m). The total flow reached 150m3/s, the total discharge was 131.11m3/s through the plant.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on December 9, the Northern region will have rain in some places, fog and scattered light fog in the early morning, sunny days. Cold at night and morning, some mountainous areas are very cold.
The South Central Coast region will have moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms from tomorrow afternoon.
The Southern region will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, from tomorrow afternoon it will be cloudy, with scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain.
