As of 9:00 a.m. on December 7, 2025, according to an update from Vietnam Electricity Group, at Tuyen Quang Lake, the upstream water level reached 119.48 m, 0.52 m lower than the normal rising water level. The flow to the reservoir reached 117m3/s, the total discharge was 113.18m3/s, mainly via power generation.
In the Northwest area, Lai Chau Lake recorded a water level of 294.58m - nearly the normal water level. The flow to the lake reached 671m3/s, of which 363m3/s was discharged through the factory.
Son La Lake alone, one of the largest hydroelectric reservoirs, is maintaining a water level of 214.53m. The flow to the reservoir reached 522m3/s, while the total discharge was 574m3/s, all via power generation.
Similarly, Hoa Binh Lake discharges 693m3/s through the plant, higher than the total flow (686m3/s). The water level is currently at 116.22m, nearly 1m lower than the normal rising water level.
Some other lakes are at low water levels and do not release water such as:
Ban Chat Lake, the upstream water level reached 474.38m, 0.62m lower than the normal water level. The flow to the lake is only 36m3/s. ; The lake does not release water through the spillway or the factory, the entire amount of water is retained for storage, suitable for the dry season flow situation.
Huoi Quang Lake, upstream water level 369.10m, nearly equal to normal rising water level (370m). The flow to the lake is very low, only 5m3/s; The lake does not generate electricity, does not release water, to ensure water storage for the peak operating time at the end of winter.
Thac Ba Lake, Water level is 57.80m, 0.20m lower than the normal water level. The flow to the lake is 162m3/s. However, there was no discharge through the plant or spillway at the time of monitoring, showing that the lake is prioritizing water storage to serve stable power generation in the coming months.
