According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 12:00 on June 9, the water level of Hoa Binh reservoir is currently at an elevation of 97.53m, 19.47m lower than the normal water level. The plant is generating electricity with a discharge flow of 1,189 m3/s and does not operate surface or deep discharge gates.
In the upstream of the Da River, Son La Lake welcomed 1,321 m3/s of water to the lake, the water level reached 196.53m, 18.47m lower than the normal water level. Lai Chau Lake has a water inflow of 957 m3/s, the water level reached 287.47m, 7.53m lower than the normal water level.
Notably, Ban Chat reservoir recorded water inflow to the reservoir up to 1,548 m3/s, the second highest in the area, but has not yet discharged water.
Huo Huoi Quang Lake has a water level of 369.16m, only 0.84m lower than the normal water level, is the lake with the highest water level compared to the design threshold in the group of Northwest lakes.
In the Northeast region, Tuyen Quang reservoir has a water level of 98.34m, 21.66m lower than the normal water level; water inflow to the reservoir reached 191 m3/s.
Thac Ba Lake recorded a water level of 49.61m, 8.39m lower than the normal water level, with water flow to the lake reaching 161 m3/s.
According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on June 9, the Northwest region, the north of Phu Tho and Tuyen Quang will have heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms; North Central region will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain.
The Southern region will be sunny during the day, with hot sun in some places; especially in the late afternoon and evening, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, with locally heavy rain.
