In 2025, we are determined to basically complete the construction of the Long Thanh airport project phase 1.
For the passenger terminal project, the construction atmosphere is extremely urgent, striving to complete the roof steel structure work before the 2025 rainy season to ensure the installation of equipment systems inside the terminal project.
In the central part of the passenger terminal, there are also many engineers and workers installing special, modern technical systems of the aviation industry.
Traffic items such as runways have exceeded the schedule by 3 months, the goal is to complete construction of the runway by April 30, 2025 and put it into technical operation.
At the same time, the construction of the connecting traffic route has reached over 70% of the volume, exceeding the contract schedule and determined to put traffic route No. 1 into operation on September 2, 2025.
Regarding other technical systems, recently, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) has started construction of aircraft parking lots, aircraft fuel supply systems, etc. and is currently under urgent construction.
In 2025, we determined, following the direction of the Prime Minister, to be the year of acceleration and breakthrough, creating the premise to bring Long Thanh airport project to the earliest progress milestone.
What are the difficulties in the construction and implementation of Long Thanh airport project, sir?
- Long Thanh airport project is a new project, building a completely new airport, all construction items are constructed at the same time.
Furthermore, because the project consists of many complex technical systems, the first construction must ensure the correct construction sequence of the technical systems, ensuring the quality of the project.
In particular, it is necessary to ensure the connection between bid packages, between the passenger terminal bid package, the inland port traffic bid package, and related bid packages providing power systems, etc.
Therefore, we must establish the most scientific progress so that the key project achieves the best quality and ensures safety. At the same time, work with contractors to find solutions to shorten the implementation progress as much as possible.
Do you have any recommendations to make the Long Thanh airport project operate effectively as soon as it is put into operation?
- We have repeatedly requested the competent authorities to have a plan to soon expand the main connecting traffic routes from Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh airport, such as the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.
Currently, traffic density on this highway is quite dense, so it needs to be expanded soon so that when the Long Thanh airport project is put into operation, the routes connecting Long Thanh airport with key areas such as Ho Chi Minh City will ensure convenient time for passengers during the process of carrying out aviation procedures.
Regarding runway number 2, the Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board has had a detailed report, proposing the earliest start date to synchronously complete runway number 2 in phase 1 of the Long Thanh Airport project.
