On October 21, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Dinh Mai Hung - Head of the Department of Traffic Construction Quality Management of the Department of Transport of Nam Dinh province - said that Nam Dinh province has accepted the opinions of the State Appraisal Council, studied the opinions of the appraisal consultant, and in the next step will coordinate with the Ministry of Transport and the design consultant to review. Thereby, there will be a plan to adjust the station location as well as the route direction through the province to reduce the length of the curve on the route. At the same time, ensure the route direction is as straight as possible, ensuring train safety, and suitable for technical factors...
Regarding the route plan and station location of the North-South high-speed railway project through Nam Dinh province, previously, the People's Committee of Nam Dinh province sent a document to the Ministry of Planning and Investment to provide comments on the additional explanation file for the project's pre-feasibility study report.
According to the People's Committee of Nam Dinh province, the planning of the Red River Delta region for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, has determined the direction for the development of central urban areas in the region. Nam Dinh city plays the role of the southern sub-regional center of the Red River Delta region, linked to the coastal economic corridor of Quang Ninh - Hai Phong - Thai Binh - Nam Dinh - Ninh Binh, the regional hub for the North - South railway, the railway connecting Nam Dinh - Thai Binh - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh.
"If the route and station location are adjusted, it will not only disrupt the planning system of Nam Dinh province but also affect the economic and social development strategy and people's lives of the locality and neighboring provinces such as Thai Binh, Hung Yen, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh...
Based on the actual situation of the locality as well as the region, Nam Dinh province proposes to maintain the route plan and station location of the high-speed railway project on the North-South axis through Nam Dinh province as updated in the project's pre-feasibility study report," the Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee raised the issue.
Mr. Dinh Mai Hung added that Nam Dinh City is the southern center of the Northern Coastal region, with a planned population of 600,000 people by 2040. As a traffic hub with large transportation needs, the area attracts neighboring localities in the Red River Delta such as Thai Binh, Hung Yen... up to about 4 million people. According to forecasts, by 2050, the demand for travel to and from Nam Dinh station will be about 3 million passengers/year.
In addition, with the information that the station of the North-South high-speed railway project is expected to be located in My Hung commune (My Loc district), now Hung Loc ward (Nam Dinh city), local people are very much looking forward to it.
Mr. Van Phu (in Hung Loc ward) shared: "I and the local people hope that the project will maintain the route and location of the North-South high-speed railway station through Nam Dinh province so that our hometown has the opportunity to change its appearance. At the same time, it will help facilitate traffic through the province, help people do better economic activities, and be a driving force for Nam Dinh city to develop."
