Speaking at the Closing Ceremony of the National Tourism Year, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc acknowledged the outstanding results that Dien Bien province has achieved in the past year. At the same time, he suggested that the province continue to focus on developing eco-tourism, historical-cultural tourism, and community tourism.
"It is necessary to focus on developing human resources, promoting, respecting and protecting nature and the environment to develop sustainable tourism. In addition, it is necessary to actively implement synchronous solutions, upgrade infrastructure, preserve, cultivate and promote unique cultural values" - the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
Mr. Tran Quoc Cuong - Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee also affirmed that the successful organization of the National Tourism Year is the most practical activity to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory.
"This is a great opportunity to promote the image and traditional cultural values of ethnic groups in Dien Bien - Northwest province to domestic and international friends," Mr. Cuong affirmed.
Also at the Closing Ceremony of the National Tourism Year, Dien Bien province introduced the outstanding results of the year and congratulated the achievements of Vietnam's tourism industry.
The closing ceremony lasted 90 minutes, including the ceremony and an art program with the theme "Brilliant Vietnam" divided into 3 parts: Brilliant Dien Bien; Impressive Vietnam and Brilliant Vietnam.
The art program has spread the message to domestic and international friends and tourists about the history, culture, and tourism of Vietnam, about the heroic, sacred, beautiful land of Dien Bien Phu, rich in cultural identity and full of friendliness and hospitality.
Within the framework of the National Tourism Year, about 160 programs, events and activities took place. Dien Bien province welcomed more than 1.85 million tourists, with total revenue from tourism activities reaching over 3,300 billion VND, nearly 2 times higher than in 2023.
The successful organization of the National Tourism Year has contributed to the overall success of Vietnam Tourism in 2024. Of which, the number of international tourists to Vietnam reached 17.5 million, an increase of 38.9%; Total revenue from tourism activities reached 840 trillion VND, an increase of 23.8% over the same period in 2023.
