On October 19, information from the People's Council of Nghe An province said that it had just passed a resolution on the list of land lots to be auctioned to select investors to implement projects using land in Nghe An province.
List of land plots for bidding to select investors to implement the Quynh Lap LNG Power Plant project in Dong Minh and Dong Thanh villages (Quynh Lap commune, Hoang Mai town).
The land area for project implementation has a total land and water surface area of about 210 hectares, of which the land area used for the factory is about 60 hectares, the water surface area is about 150 hectares.
According to the plan, the procedures for approving the project's investment policy will be completed in the first and second quarters of 2025. The People's Committee of Nghe An province will organize the bidding to select investors according to the Progress Monitoring Table of the project's investor selection activities after approval.
According to the National Power Development Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 500 dated May 15, 2023 and the Plan to implement the National Power Development Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 262 dated April 1, 2024, the Quynh Lap LNG Gas Power Plant project has a capacity of 1,500 MW, including 2 units.
The project scale includes a gas power plant, a port for ships of about 100,000-150,000 DWT, an LNG storage facility and a regasification system. The fuel demand of the LNG import plant is about 1.15 million tons/year.
Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Project is one of 14 LNG thermal power projects in the list of important power source projects, prioritized for investment by the electricity industry until 2030, aiming to bring the total LNG thermal power capacity of the country to 22,400 MW. The project has a total investment of about 2.15 billion USD and is expected to be put into commercial operation before 2030.
LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) is liquefied natural gas whose main component is CH4 - methane (accounting for about 90%), colorless, odorless, used as fuel. LNG is natural gas that is deeply frozen at a temperature of -162°C to turn into liquid, and is stored in specialized tanks for transportation to the point of consumption.
