People recover after storms and floods
In October 2025, the flood caused by the circulation of storm No. 10 swept through Chut Village, Van Ban commune, leaving behind a heavy memory.
Fierce water swept away stilt houses, buried fields under thick sand, carrying almost all the assets accumulated by people after years of hard work.

Traces of the flood are still imprinted on the old house foundations, where sand and rocks have not yet erased the pain. But right next to it, on a higher and safer land, new houses are gradually taking shape. From ruins, Chut Village opens up a different beginning, quiet but persistent.
According to Mr. Hoang Thanh Trieu, Head of Lang Chut village, the flood in 2025 affected 30 households in the village, of which 23 households suffered heavy damage. Two houses were completely swept away, many other households were deeply flooded, sand buried up to more than 2.5 meters, leaving no small damage.

To help people stabilize their lives soon, the government has relocated the affected households to new residential areas, ensuring long-term safety.
Up to now, 18 households have started building new houses. Among them, 2 households have been completed, and the remaining households are urgently constructing, striving to complete before December 23rd of the lunar calendar to be ready for Tet," Mr. Trieu said.

In the new house still faintly smelling of plaster, Ms. Quang Thi Quyet could not hide her emotion. Her family was supported by the State with 40 million VND, then borrowed more from the bank to build a solid house.
After the recent losses, celebrating Tet this year in a new house, having stable land, for us, it is a great happiness," Ms. Quyet shared.
The government's joint effort
Along with houses, fields are also gradually reviving. The land plots that were once buried by sand have now turned green again, bringing hope for a prosperous crop, signaling that production life is returning to normal.

On February 7th, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Nguyen Manh Ha - Vice Chairman of Van Ban Commune People's Committee said that immediately after the flood, the locality established working groups to support people to overcome the consequences. From repairing and reinforcing houses to relocating households to new residences, everything was deployed urgently.
Military forces, police and socio-political organizations also participated in leveling land, transporting materials, helping people rebuild their homes.
According to Mr. Ha, after the storm and flood, agencies and units have implemented support with a total budget of 2.4 billion VND. Of which, housing construction support funds are more than 1.7 billion VND, including 1.56 billion VND from the State budget and 200 million VND supported by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union.
Along with that, the funding for supporting trees, crops, agriculture - forestry, and aquaculture reached over 526 million VND.

These days, the working atmosphere is bustling throughout the villages. Some contribute working days, some support materials, all aiming for the common goal of soon stabilizing life, in time to celebrate Tet in new rooftops.
Chut village today is gradually taking on a new look. Solid stilt houses nestled next to green fields, in the distance are majestic mountains and forests, creating a peaceful picture after storms and floods.
This Tet, in new houses, the people of Chut Village welcome spring with complete belief in tomorrow, a future where the village will not only revive after the flood, but also rise up from the hardships it has gone through.
Previously, storm No. 10 caused floodwaters to pour into Lang Chut village, causing many houses to be deeply flooded. When the flood receded, a thick layer of yellow sand covered houses and fields with a volume of more than 100,000 m3, estimated value of 30 - 35 billion VND.
Van Ban Commune People's Committee has proposed planning the area into a sand mine to organize an auction.
However, according to the leader of Van Ban Commune People's Committee, the auction has not been implemented. Currently, the locality is submitting a request for provincial funding to collect and gather.
