Seeing the traffic flow on the newly repaired road, Ms. Hoang Thi Luu (Cho Moi, Bac Kan) could not hide her joy. For more than 10 years, her family has lived right on National Highway 3, where many traffic collisions have occurred due to narrow roads and sharp turns.
Previously, every time a large truck passed by, my whole family was worried. Many sections are quite sharp, vehicles run fast and easily encroach on the lane, just a small mistake can cause a collision. Many times the vehicles have slid due to rain and slippery roads, and people witnessed it and were heartbroken, said Ms. Luu.
Not only is it dangerous for vehicles, but the lives of people along the road are also affected. On rainy days, the road is slippery, on sunny days, dust can easily fly into the house when the car is running fast.
"Although there are warning signs, many drivers passing by are still subjective. Now that the road has been rebuilt, more spacious, with guardrails, we are somewhat reassured" - Ms. Luu shared.

Also on this route, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, a truck driver on the Bac Kan - Thai Nguyen route, often passes through sharp turns on National Highway 3, so he clearly understands the constant potential risks when traveling.
"Every time I pass Km 131 or Km 135, I slow down and concentrate highly. These sections have warning signs but the road is small, if you encounter vehicles in opposite direction, you must observe carefully to avoid collisions. Especially at night or when it rains, the view is reduced, the driver is very nervous" - Mr. Hung said.
According to Mr. Hung, repairing and upgrading the road not only helps drivers feel more secure but also creates favorable conditions for freight transport.
Wider roads and fewer shock points will help vehicles move smoothly. We hope the project will be completed soon to make travel safer and more smooth" - he shared.
The project to upgrade and repair National Highway 3 is invested by the Bac Kan Department of Transport (now the Bac Kan Department of Construction), with a total capital of more than 50 billion VND, implemented from the end of 2023.
The project's goal is to upgrade infrastructure, eliminate a series of black spots of traffic concentration at the sections Km 129 + 428.7 - Km 131+171.9; Km 131 +900 - Km 133 + 881.2; Km 135 + 723.2 - Km 140 + 500... to ensure safety for people and vehicles.
On March 10, the reporter noted that after more than a year of implementation, most of the road has been paved with asphalt, with railings, warning signs, and drainage systems.
At the hard bridge point in Cao Ky commune (Cho Moi), construction is underway, reinforcement, repair, stone spread, and access road construction.
Mr. Leng Van Chien - Director of the Bac Kan Department of Construction (former Director of the Bac Kan Department of Transport) said that the project workload has been completed over 80%.
For other hard and auxiliary bridge items, it is expected to be completed in mid-2025.
The removal of a series of traffic black spots on National Highway 3 not only helps people feel more secure when traveling but also creates favorable conditions for transportation activities, promotes trade and develops the regional economy.
