Creating livelihoods for people to escape poverty
Remembering the time 1 year ago, Mr. Lo Din The (29 years old, Yen Thang commune, Luc Yen district) could not hold back his tears.
"My family has been farming for three generations, and the income from rice and corn is not much, so we often go hungry during the lean season. My salary is not enough to eat, let alone support my family. So, when I learned about the working mechanism at Ban Nghe marble mine, I applied and was accepted," Mr. The confided.
Looking at the white stone slabs with hopeful eyes, Mr. The said: "Since working at the mine, life has become more stable. Each month, my salary is 9 million VND. My family spends frugally and buys more livestock to develop the economy."
Similarly, the family of Mr. Phung Duc Khoa (30 years old, Yen Thang commune, Luc Yen district) is also one of the households that benefited from the operation of Ban Nghe marble mine.
“Three years ago, sending my children to school seemed far away to me, because we had little productive land, and besides farming, my husband and I had no other jobs, so difficulties piled on top of difficulties. Since working at the mine, with a stable salary, the family has raised pigs, chickens, and ducks.
By 2023, my family will officially be off the village's poor household list," said Mr. Khoa.
Mr. Pham Van Hanh, in Yen Thang commune, Luc Yen district, said that in recent years, in addition to taking care of the lives of workers at the mine, Hung Dai Son Construction Production and Trading Company Limited has also upgraded traffic infrastructure and lighting systems.
Currently, the most obvious change is that the road from the Viet Duc Company intersection to the Ban Nghe mine gate has been invested in asphalt and concrete, creating convenience for people to travel.
"Since the roads became more convenient, the transportation of fertilizers, agricultural products... by people has become more efficient, and people's lives have become more prosperous than before," Mr. Hanh said excitedly.
Striving to help more than 1,000 households escape poverty
According to Vice Chairman of Luc Yen District People's Committee Nong Thu Ha, in 2024 the district will strive to reduce the poverty rate by 4.8%, equivalent to a reduction of 1,389 poor households.
To achieve that goal, the District People's Committee has issued a plan requesting agencies, units, departments, offices, People's Committees of communes and towns to urgently and effectively implement the plan dated March 29, 2024 of the Luc Yen District People's Committee on implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in 2024 in the district. In particular, the plan dated March 5, 2024 of the Luc Yen District Party Committee on implementing the target of sustainable poverty reduction in 2024.
Continue to effectively implement projects and sub-projects such as: Diversifying livelihoods, developing poverty reduction models; supporting production development, improving nutrition; developing vocational education and sustainable employment; enhancing capacity and monitoring and evaluating programs; supporting the renovation and repair of houses for 186 poor households...
Thereby contributing to creating sustainable livelihoods and jobs, increasing income, eliminating dilapidated houses, reducing poverty, and gradually improving the quality of life for the people.
Talking to Lao Dong, Director of Hung Dai Son Construction Production and Trade Service Company Limited Nguyen Van Hung said that in 2024, the company cooperated with Yen Thang commune to pour concrete on the road from Viet Duc Company intersection to Ban Nghe mine gate with a length of 1.2km, total cost of 3.2 billion VND.
At the same time, he sponsored a lonely, homeless old man, gave 150 Tet gifts to poor households and the elderly in the locality, and supported the cost of installing a lighting system for the rural roads in Lang Thoc village.
