On April 11, the Forest Protection Department of Tuyen Hoa District (Quang Binh) said that the authorities had just received a rare pangolin from the people.
Previously, Mr. Nguyen Van Linh, a resident of Bac Son village 2 (Thanh Hoa commune, Tuyen Hoa district), discovered a pangolin caught in a net on the roadside while playing.
Realizing that this was a rare animal, Mr. Linh quickly rescued it and handed it over to Thanh Hoa Commune Police in accordance with regulations.
Thanh Hoa Commune Police then coordinated with Tuyen Hoa District Forest Protection Department to carry out procedures to receive the pangolin.
The District Forest Protection Department has temporarily cared for and completed the dossier, then transferred the pangolin to the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Life in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park for release back into the natural environment.
According to information from the Forest Protection Department, the pangolin weighs 1.5 kg, belongs to the group of rare wild animals, is at risk of extinction and is given strict priority for protection according to the law.
