On the evening of December 2, Lao Bao Forest Protection Station (Huong Hoa Forest Protection Department) said that it had coordinated with Lao Bao Commune People's Committee to receive a mountain turtle handed over by the people.
Earlier, on the same morning, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tuan (Trung Chin village, Lao Bao commune) discovered a turtle crawling in his garden.Realizing that this was an endangered animal, Mr. Tuan kept it and contacted the wildlife protection hotline for instructions.
Upon receiving the information, Lao Bao Commune People's Committee and Lao Bao Forest Protection Station made a record of receiving the turtle for care and planned to release it back into the natural environment.
According to the rangers, the individual handed over is a border turtle (Manouria impressa), weighing 3kg, belonging to group IIB - an endangered, rare species that needs priority protection.
