According to Lao Dong's records on the morning of January 21, many people including office workers, students, tourists... were still happily lining up to buy tickets for Metro train No. 1. Because there was a prior announcement from the operating unit - Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC1), everything went smoothly on the morning of the first day of toll collection.
Ms. Nguyen Le Minh Thu (living in District 7) said that she was not surprised about buying Metro train tickets, because she had been given detailed instructions by the station staff beforehand. “It is really simple, just line up to buy tickets and get on the train. I think whether it is free or charged, I will still choose to take the Metro because it is convenient, saves time when traveling and reduces environmental pollution,” Ms. Thu said.
Ms. Nguyen Thu Ngan (living in District 1) said: "At the station, there are staff to guide you, so buying tickets is easy. I thought I would have to wait in line for a long time today, but unexpectedly, here, people did not jostle, just followed their turn to buy tickets and boarded the train."
According to HURC1, one-way fares are calculated based on the distance traveled. If paid in cash, fares range from 7,000 to 20,000 VND/trip.
Passengers using cashless payment methods will receive preferential treatment, with slightly reduced prices, from only 6,000 to 19,000 VND/trip.
In addition to single-pass tickets, Metro Line 1 also offers monthly tickets priced at VND300,000 for regular passengers and VND150,000 exclusively for students.
Passengers who need to use the service for a short period of time can choose an unlimited-trip ticket, priced at VND40,000/day or VND90,000/three days.
Some groups of people who are exempt from ticket fees include: people with revolutionary contributions, people with disabilities, the elderly and children under 6 years old.
Put into operation since December 22, 2024, Metro Line 1 has made 5,808 trips and served more than 2.7 million passengers. This result exceeded the original plan by 247.6%.
