As Lao Dong has reported, from March to May 2025, the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DONRE) of Cao Bang province has organized inspection teams at most domestic solid waste treatment facilities in the province.
According to report No. 2643 submitted by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to the Provincial People's Committee, in nearly 4 years of implementation, the collection, transportation and treatment of domestic solid waste in Cao Bang has achieved certain results.

A noteworthy point is that the waste classification model at source is being implemented relatively effectively in Tinh Tuc commune (formerly Tinh Tuc town, Nguyen Binh district).
The classification of waste at source is implemented by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in coordination with the People's Committee of Nguyen Binh district (old).
In the two years 2023 - 2024, the model has organized 9 training courses, distributed guidance documents and supported equipment and classification chemicals for hundreds of households and production facilities.

Thanks to that, the rate of households classifying waste in accordance with regulations has increased significantly - from 56.5% to 94.3%. A representative of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment said: If the classification at source is maintained synchronously, it can help save on collection fees. At the same time, from waste classification, people can take advantage of some types to make fertilizers or recycle them".
On July 18, PV had the opportunity to record the implementation process at Pac Mieu waste treatment area (Bao Lam commune), one of the facilities that collects and burns household waste well.
Currently, the management company has invested in additional roofs, a sealed nets and a garbage crusher, helping to reduce dust and odor spreading into the environment.
The entire treatment process - from the gathering, spraying of biological products to putting garbage in the crusher before burning - all take place in a closed space, ensuring environmental hygiene.

Mr. Mai Song Ma - Deputy Director of Long Tuan Environmental Sanitation Cooperative - shared: "We have invested in additional roofs, grille systems and barrier nets with a total cost of about 500 million VND. This not only improves the working environment for workers but also improves the efficiency of on-site waste treatment.
However, the two localities mentioned above are only rare bright spots in the picture of the current status of domestic waste treatment in Cao Bang.
The report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has pointed out a series of shortcomings and problems of 14/16 waste treatment facilities in the area that need to be promptly overcome. In the locality, garbage is still buried in violation of technical procedures, not sprayed with biological products, not compacted or covered with soil periodically.
Some technical works such as incinerators, leachate treatment systems, operator houses, and settling tanks are abandoned, damaged or have never been put into operation.

The lack of security forces leads to equipment theft in many places. Many projects have not completed legal documents or have not been granted an environmental license, causing the project to be completed but unable to be officially operated. In particular, there are facilities to complete the construction but the specific operation plan has not yet been determined.
Obviously, although the waste treatment system in Cao Bang is undergoing positive changes and the source classification model has brought initial efficiency, to sustainably manage domestic solid waste, it requires localities to promptly overcome the above problems.
