According to initial information, at around 3:00 p.m. on December 28, a fire broke out in the protective forest in Pha Lai ward (Chi Linh city, Hai Duong province).
Immediately after receiving the news, the forces quickly arrived at the scene to control the fire. Because the fire occurred in a forest area with many trees broken after storm No. 3, the fire spread quickly.
On the morning of December 29, speaking with Lao Dong, a representative of the Forest Protection Department of Chi Linh City (Hai Duong province) said that the area where the fire broke out had many fallen trees, and the fire spread over about 2 hectares.
By the night of December 28, the fire was extinguished. By the early morning of December 29, the fire was completely contained. The initial cause was believed to be people burning the ground cover.
Local authorities have dispatched forces to continue monitoring and be ready to put out the fire if it flares up again.
Previously, on November 30, a forest fire broke out at the Binh Giang slag dam in Pha Lai ward, damaging nearly 1 hectare of protective forest. When the fire was discovered, forces coordinated to clear trees, create a fire-blocking runway and extinguish the fire.
Since the beginning of the dry season, a number of forest fires have occurred in Chi Linh City and Kinh Mon Town, causing damage to more than 10 hectares of forest. Since October 25, the Hai Duong Forest Protection Department has issued a warning about the risk of forest fires in Chi Linh City and Kinh Mon Town being at an extremely dangerous level (level V - the highest).
