Mother carries her young child across mountains and crosses forests to receive relief supplies
After the impact of storm No. 5 at the end of August 2025, Giang Pang village, Lang Manh with 154 households, 820 people, are two particularly difficult villages, nearly 20km from the center of Son Luong commune, isolated by landslides that buried the road.
It took a lot of time and effort for local authorities, functional forces and villagers to repair the roads before storm No. 10 hit.

When the storm passed, hundreds of landslides continued to appear on the nearly 20km road from the commune center to these two villages, with some places having 200 meters of sliding rocks and soil, creating a huge volume of water flowing down, causing these two villages to be isolated.
The supply of food and necessities to the people is facing many difficulties because cars and motorbikes cannot access it. Not to mention, on high mountains, large rocks and trees are tilted, posing a potential risk of landslides at any time.

Mr. Hoang Viet Quy (Giang Pang - Lang Manh Cooperative) said: To provide rice and necessities to the people, the volunteer group must contact the village chief in advance to grasp the situation and notify each household.
Then, move the items to a gathering place. People in the village walk to receive relief supplies such as rice, gasoline, oil, etc.
According to Mr. Quy, only when he arrived at the scene could he see the storm and how severely the people were affected. The house was buried by the landslide, there were no clothes to wear, and I had to stay at a relative's house.

The children and their mothers traveled 10km with their mother through the mountains and forests to receive support, which was really heartbreaking. Now that storm No. 11 is waiting, people here have gone through a very difficult year when they have continuously suffered the consequences of natural disasters.
Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Son Luong commune - shared: "When isolated and in difficulty, people hope most, need themselves most, by all means must find a way to reach the people".
As soon as the storm arrived, Son Luong commune established working groups to walk dozens of kilometers, approaching Giang Pang and Lang Manh villages to direct and organize forces with people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, soon stabilize their lives, and at the same time, visit, encourage and support households whose houses were collapsed or were severely damaged.
Next, 5 supply and relief teams were also established to bring food, necessities, and medicine across the mountains to Lang Manh and Giang Pang to support the people.
Do not let people go hungry or cold
Like Giang Pang, Lang Manh, Khe Long 2 and Khe Long 3 villages, Mo Vang commune was also isolated after storm No. 10 due to landslides, buried bridges, and traffic disruption.
More than 70 households with more than 200 people mainly Dao ethnic people here are worried as storm No. 11 is coming, forests have been stretched out with water, streams are torn, landslides and flash floods are waiting, making people feel insecure.

Ms. Tran Thi Diem (in Khe Long 2 village) worried: Her family's house was swept away by the flash flood, and she now has to stay at a relative's house. Now that another storm No. 11 has hit, who knows if we can defend against it anymore? There is nothing left in the house.
Mr. Tran Tuan Anh - Vice Chairman of Mo Vang Commune People's Committee said that in the immediate future, for households in areas at risk of landslides and flash floods in Khe Long 2 and Khe Long 3 villages, the locality has mobilized and propagated temporary relocation to relatives' houses in the village to ensure safety.
"Due to cut off roads and damaged infrastructure due to floods, and interrupted communication, the authorities have divided into 4 working teams, carrying goods and necessities to support people in isolated areas, ensuring enough food and provisions for the people," said Mr. Tran Tuan Anh.

According to the leader of Mo Vang commune, in addition to the two isolated villages above, the commune also suffered great damage due to the impact of storms and floods. In parallel with the work of overcoming floods, the locality has proactively propagated and relocated households to safe areas to prevent storm No. 11.
"The local terrain has many isolated streams, cages, and high mountains, the recent storm No. 10 has soaked the land with water, making it easy for landslides, flash floods, and flash floods. Therefore, the unit must develop many plans and be proactive in responding to storm No. 11, not letting people suffer from hunger and cold," added the Vice Chairman of Mo Vang Commune People's Committee.
