According to the residents of Cai Dan ward (Song Cong city, Thai Nguyen), for many years now, dozens of households have had to live with dust, noise and unpleasant odors caused by the concrete station activities of Tuoi Tre Company Limited.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh (name changed, Cai Dan ward) said that Tuoi Tre concrete station has been operating for about 10 years now, previously it was just a small facility and gradually developed and expanded as it is today.
According to Mr. Thanh, dust from cement, sand and rock as well as noise from machinery during the production process of the concrete station have a significant impact on the lives of people in the area.
"Before, when it first appeared, there was no impact. Since the facility was expanded to a concrete station, they have been doing it vigorously. At first, it was dusty and noisy. After people complained, the situation has only improved a little," said Mr. Thanh.
Having a house located on Highway 3, not far from the concrete mixing station, Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien (Song Cong City) said that the operation of the Tuoi Tre concrete station also generates wastewater into the environment.
"Waste and wastewater from production activities, equipment cleaning, and concrete tank trucks are not thoroughly treated by the facility and overflow into the environment.
Water from the concrete production process overflows and seeps into the soil and groundwater. People have expressed their opinions but have not received a satisfactory response so far. We are very worried about environmental pollution," said Mr. Kien.
According to the reporter's records in mid-October 2024, the Tuoi Tre concrete station area covers an area of thousands of square meters. Inside the concrete station, sand, rocks, and machinery and equipment are scattered. On the ground, wastewater from the production process flows everywhere, and in some places, the waste is deposited, close to the cultivated land.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Luu Van Thang - Chairman of Cai Dan Ward People's Committee confirmed that during its operation, Tuoi Tre concrete station has not yet complied with environmental regulations. Currently, this unit only has one commitment paper in this field.
"Previously, in 2018, this facility was also administratively fined about 80 million VND in the environmental field.
The people's complaints are well-founded. The locality has also reminded and requested Tuoi Tre concrete station to implement measures to water and clean regularly," said Mr. Thang.
