The Dam Nha Mac Interchange Project, at Km20+50 of Hai Phong - Mong Cai Expressway, is a key traffic project of Quang Ninh with a total investment of 760.68 billion VND, approved by the Provincial People's Committee on October 31, 2019.
This is the largest traffic intersection in the province, designed in the shape of an asterisk with 9 branches, total length of more than 10km, on an area of 83.4ha.
The project started in 2020, but due to many difficulties related to forest land conversion, scarcity of filling materials, and elevation design adjustments, the progress had to be extended 4 times.
According to the report from the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Civil and Industrial Works (project investor), up to now, the project has completed about 80% of the total volume.
Some major items such as the underpass across the highway have been completed. Large box culverts (2x4x6m), cross-road culverts are 100% completed. The asphalt concrete pavement in the highway expansion area is completely completed, the asphalt pavement in the branch area is over 4.5km/10km.
Guardrails, paint, highway lighting and all directional signs have been installed.
Currently, contractors are focusing on reinforcing the slope of the branch line, digging molds, filling with K98 soil, spreading crushed stone and asphalt concrete on the subsidence-free sections.
According to the representative of the joint consulting and supervision contractor Thang Long Construction Consulting Company and Viet Long Technology Development Company, the construction units have mobilized over 50 equipment units and more than 100 workers divided into 3 shifts, determined to complete the project before December 31, 2024.
Dam Nha Mac Interchange is not only a large-scale traffic project but also has important significance in connecting Hai Phong - Mong Cai expressway with key economic areas of the province.
Upon completion, this interchange will expand the connectivity of Quang Yen coastal economic zone. Support the development of Dam Nha Mac industrial park and neighboring areas. Attract investment and promote economic development in the West of Quang Ninh province.
With the determination of contractors and investors, the project is expected to be completed on schedule by the end of 2024, creating a new development momentum for Quang Ninh.
