Two projects were approved for investment policy by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council on February 6.
60m wide road connecting Cat Lai port to Ring Road 3
The road project connecting Cat Lai - Phu Huu port cluster to Ring Road 3 and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway has a length of 5.9 km, with a total investment of 8.782 billion VND. The project is expected to start construction in the fourth quarter of this year and be completed after 2028.
The road has a total length of nearly 6 km, a cross-section width of 60 m.
The road has a starting point connecting Nguyen Thi Dinh street (near the Truong Van Bang intersection), an ending point at the Ring Road 3 intersection and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, passing through two wards Cat Lai and Long Truong.

Currently, Nguyen Thi Dinh street is the only entrance and exit of Cat Lai port - the largest container port in the country, which is often overloaded.
In the early stages, the intersection with Nguyen Thi Dinh street will organize level traffic, regulated by traffic lights. In the long term, the city will separate the project to invest in a grade-separated intersection, possibly building overpasses or underpasses.

On the route, Ba Cua bridge will be built including two units, each side with 5 lanes (3 main lanes, 2 parallel lanes).

The section from Phu Huu port to the expressway intersection and Ring Road 3 will build a 4-lane elevated road, combining 3 connection positions with the low-lying road section.

At the Nguyen Thi Tu street intersection, the project arranges a roundabout for vehicles to turn flexibly in all directions.

The area along Ong Nhieu canal will have a tunnel under the viaduct, serving the travel needs of surrounding people.

At the Ring Road 3 and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway intersection, the project maintains its current form, while adding connecting branches of the inter-port road.
The principle of traffic organization is to prioritize vehicles from inter-port roads entering the expressway to quickly clear vehicles entering and leaving the port.

Untied" traffic at the western gateway
In the western area of Ho Chi Minh City, the Vinh Loc road expansion project is also expected to solve the serious congestion situation.
Currently, this road is only 7-8 m wide, with two lanes, but it has to bear a very large volume of vehicles.
Vinh Loc road plays an important connecting role between areas such as Binh Chanh, Binh Tan, Hoc Mon before, and also serves internal traffic in densely populated residential areas and industrial parks.

According to the project just approved, the Vinh Loc road section from Tran Van Giau to road 2A (Vinh Loc Industrial Park) more than 7.1 km long will be expanded to 30 m, nearly 4 times the current status.

The project also invests in building a new Ba Tri bridge, 31 m long.
In addition to the main route, the project will build two key intersections. In which, the Vinh Loc - Tran Van Giau intersection is expanded in scope, adding right turn lanes and traffic islands.

The intersection of Vinh Loc - Quach Dieu - Vo Van Van - Nguyen Thi Tu intersection is also fully invested according to the plan.

The total investment of the project is about 6,870 billion VND from the Ho Chi Minh City budget. The project is expected to start construction in the first quarter of 2027 and be completed and put into operation in the third quarter of 2028.
