On April 23, Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan chaired a meeting, listening to the report of the Project "Overall development of Phu Quoc to 2040, vision to 2050" and proposed mechanisms and policies for the development of Phu Quoc city (Project).
According to the consultant, the draft Project "Overall development of Phu Quoc to 2040, vision to 2050" orients the development of Phu Quoc according to the model of a coastal, island - service - financial - technological tourism city.
The project aims to develop Phu Quoc City to become a smart, ecological and prosperous sea and island on the basis of tourism, resort and trade - service with high quality, high quality, regional and world -class; Economic development goes hand in hand with improving the lives of people, in harmony with conservation to promote historical and cultural relics, conservation of marine biodiversity and islands and ensure national defense and security.
With 3 pillars of development: tourism with indigenous cultural colors, creating a unique mark of regional and international stature; trade - services - logistics; creative urban area, technology, ecology.
The project proposes a number of policy mechanisms on tourism, trade, high-quality services and smart and ecological urban development such as: tax exemption policy; issuance of electronic visas, visa exemption; attracting high-quality human resources; organizing the government apparatus; investment management; finance, state budget; planning management, urban, natural resources and environment; science and technology management, innovation, creativity, etc.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan emphasized: "Building mechanisms and policies is a decisive and important factor for Phu Quoc to develop rapidly and strongly, in line with trends and practical needs in the coming time. The new mechanism and policies need to be outstanding, in line with Phu Quoc's potential, have local colors, create their own mark, and be competitive with the region and the world".
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan requested relevant departments, branches, sectors and Phu Quoc City to study and have documents to contribute opinions and propose mechanisms and policies for the development of Phu Quoc to 2040, with a vision to 2050. The Department of Finance synthesizes, collects expert opinions, and advises on the completion of the project before June 15 through competent authorities.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan requested that the development of a project and specific mechanisms and policies for Phu Quoc City must be open, convenient, and create momentum for rapid development. Ensure the attraction of large, high-quality investment resources; shorten the time for planning implementation, investment in projects, and designation of strategic investors in accordance with the provisions of law; create an attractive environment with sustainable revenue sources in Phu Quoc City.
