End it, no reoccupation
In recent times, the management of urban order and traffic safety corridors has been given attention and direction by Phu Quoc City (Kien Giang), however, violations of urban order and encroachment on roadsides and sidewalks for business and trading still recur. Faced with this situation, the locality has implemented many solutions, determined to prevent re-encroachment.
In Duong Dong ward, the center of the city, the situation of encroachment on sidewalks and roads for business and trading still occurs, affecting the urban beauty and traffic safety. Duong Dong ward has coordinated with city departments and offices to organize inspections, remind and guide people to arrange business places, hang advertising signs, and arrange parking spaces according to regulations, without affecting sidewalks and roads.

Mr. Huynh Hong Thai, Vice Chairman of Duong Dong Ward People's Committee said: "After this inspection, the ward has notified organizations and individuals who violate urban order to dismantle and return the road surface to the state. In the coming time, the ward will conduct inspections and handle administrative violations against organizations that deliberately do not comply to ensure the restoration of urban order in the area."
Mr. Tran Minh Khoa - Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee - said that the city has always paid great attention to this work. However, there are times when encroachment recurs, so the city leaders urge the communes, wards and related forces not only to continue but also to promote, implement drastically and strictly until the requirements are met.
First of all, Duong Dong ward will mobilize to restore urban order on key routes, strictly handle violations that have been propagandized and reminded but still intentionally violate, and implement them thoroughly, not allowing re-encroachment and occupation to occur.
Combined processing of propaganda
The city's drastic handling aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of state management in the field of urban order, and is supported by the people.
Ms. Le Thi Hoa - a resident of Duong Dong ward - shared: "I think the government's actions help make roads more convenient for people, students going to school on the sidewalk is safer, and the sidewalk is also clean and beautiful."
According to the People's Committee of Phu Quoc City, the city also plans to handle violations while simultaneously coordinating with the dissemination and propaganda of laws on urban order and traffic safety among the people, so that people are aware of properly exercising their rights and obligations. However, it will resolutely handle, force the dismantling, relocation, and clearance of cases of encroachment, use of roads, sidewalks, and road corridors.
“The restoration of urban order and gradual return to order will be one of the important factors to help improve the quality of people's lives, enhance urban beauty, and create a beautiful image in the eyes of tourists when coming to Phu Quoc pearl island,” Mr. Khoa shared.
The Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee also added that the Project to Upgrade the Drainage System of Duong Dong Ward, with a total investment of more than 35 billion VND, includes a drainage system to Duong Dong High School; renovating water collection pits at flooded areas on Nguyen Trung Truc Street and 30/4 Street, which has been accepted and put into use before the rainy season in 2024. In particular, the project to renovate the drainage system and raise the frequently flooded section of about 400m on Cach Mang Thang 8 Street has just been completed at the end of September 2024.
