On July 20, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province issued an urgent dispatch requesting departments, branches, localities, especially coastal communes and Con Co island area to proactively deploy measures to respond to storm No. 3 (WIPHA) to minimize damage.
According to the forecast of the Hydrometeorological Station, storm No. 3 is moving rapidly, with the strongest wind near the storm's center reaching level 11, gusting to level 14. In the next 24 hours, the storm will continue to move west-northwest at a speed of 2025km/h, likely to directly affect the North Central region.
The Provincial People's Committee directs localities to closely monitor the developments of the storm; review areas at risk of flooding and landslides, especially mountainous areas, along rivers and streams, and unfinished works; prepare forces and means to be ready to respond when bad situations occur.
In particular, in the Con Co island area, the Border Guards, ports, and fisheries control forces are required to coordinate in notifying ships and tourists to proactively avoid and not enter the danger zone.
The Departments of Agriculture, Transport, Construction, Public Security, Provincial Military... are assigned to immediately deploy plans to protect the dyke system, reservoirs, ensure production safety, power grid, traffic, and rescue. The Hydrometeorological Station and press agencies are required to increase updates and broadcast timely warning information.
The Provincial People's Committee requests units and localities to strictly implement this telegram, regularly report to the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Environment for timely direction.
