National resistance relics are degraded
According to the History of Hai Phong City Party Committee, K15 Wharf is the starting point of the Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea, located in Van Huong Ward, Do Son District, Hai Phong. The vestiges of the old wharf are rows of stakes rising above the sea level near Van Set lagoon.
In the early 1960s, in response to the development requirements of the Southern revolution, the Politburo of the Central Party Executive Committee decided to open a route to transport weapons to the South by sea. In 1961, following the Directive of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission, the General Command decided to establish Group 759 (including soldiers who had just left the South and some Southern cadres who had gathered in the North). Group 759 was tasked with purchasing vehicles and transporting supplies to the Southern battlefield. On the night of October 11, 1962, the Phuong Dong 1 ship departed from K15 wharf. After 6 days and nights at sea, cleverly avoiding the enemy's pursuit, the ship safely arrived at Vam Lung - Ca Mau wharf. The first weapons transport by sea was successful.
On that road, thousands of tons of weapons continued to be transported to the Southern battlefield, contributing significantly to the final victory of the resistance war against the US to save the country. On August 18, 2008, K15 wharf was ranked as a National Resistance Historical Relic, according to Decision No. 63/2008/QD-BVHTTDL of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Over time, the Ben K15 relic has now deteriorated. In particular, storm No. 3 on September 7th caused dozens of square meters of stone monument to be broken and damaged, and 20 shade trees to be broken and fallen...
