In late November, the working group of the Golden Heart Social Charity Fund traveled hundreds of kilometers to the flooded area of Hoa Thinh commune.
Thereby promptly visiting, encouraging and giving support gifts to the people here.
For example, during the recent historic flood, all 480 households in Phu Dien Trong village were deeply flooded. Many children and the elderly had to flee the flood at night.
When the water receded, the crops were severely damaged, people fell into a situation of rice shortage, lack of necessities and could not restore production.
At this time, the Golden Heart Social Charity Fund came directly and presented 25 gifts to affected households, each worth 2 million VND, for a total of 50 million VND.
Not yet over the shock after the flood, Mr. Huynh Lac (Phu Dien Trong village) choked up as he said, when the water suddenly rose, the whole village ran away from the flood at night.
"Many households were evacuated promptly by the authorities, so they were lucky to escape. My elderly couple were unfortunately lying in the great flood. After the flood, all of my family's belongings and crops were submerged" - Mr. Huynh Lac shared.
According to Mr. Lac, as soon as the water receded, people were left with hunger, lack of clothes, and were swept away by crops, their lives were completely turned upside down. People hope to receive additional cash support or seedlings to soon restore production and stabilize livelihoods.
Immediately after the flood, Mr. Huynh Lat (residing in Phu Dien Trong village, in charge of the front work) cleaned up his house and visited each household to support and assist.
Mr. Lat shared: "In the past few decades, I have never witnessed such a terrible flood. The water rose so quickly that people could not react. Some people have saved 20 years to build a foundation but now they have lost everything because their houses have collapsed, their fields are flooded, and their poultry are floating with the flood.
In recent days, many volunteer groups and philanthropists have continuously come to support the people. Of which, the Golden Heart Social Support Fund is one of the units most grateful to the people.
The timely support of the fund helps families have the conditions to buy rice for the end of the year, or invest in seedlings to restore agricultural production.
Mr. Huynh Van Thuan - Head of Phu Dien Trong Village - said that when hearing the news of the Golden Heart Social and Cultural Fund coming to give gifts, the people were very happy and went to the village cultural house early to welcome the group. "The locality has carefully reviewed and prioritized the households that suffered the most damage after the flood. The support money helps people have more conditions to buy necessities and rebuild their lives. On behalf of the government, we would like to thank this timely support, said Mr. Thuan.
Not only giving gifts, representatives of the Golden Heart Fund also visit each household in special difficulty, listening and sharing the losses they are experiencing.
"We hope to provide timely support so that people can soon stabilize their lives. Although the gift is not large, it is a heart for sharing, helping people to ease their difficulties after the difficult days of flood fighting," said a representative of the Golden Heart Social Charity Fund.
During the recent flood, the People's Committee of Hoa Thinh commune, Dak Lak recorded 25 deaths, and no missing cases have been discovered. Floods also caused severe damage to property, houses, food and infrastructure, with a total estimated value of more than 563.5 billion VND.
The commune had 4,820/8,255 houses completely flooded. The assets inside were severely damaged, with estimated damage of about 482 billion VND.
