Initial information, at around 2:00 p.m. the same day, a group of three workers were dismantling a 3.5-meter high, 5-meter wide and 6-meter long wall at a house in the demolition area, handing over the site to serve the construction package of intersection No. 1 (Mau Than - 3 Thang 2 - Tran Hung Dao). When a worker cut the crossbar, the wall suddenly collapsed, burying two motorbikes parked nearby.
The incident caused bricks, concrete and steel to overflow nearly half of Mau Than Street. A worker suffered minor injuries to his hand and head. The remaining two workers were lucky to escape.
It is known that this house is among the demolished works to hand over the site for the construction package of intersection No. 1 (Mau Than - 3 Thang 2 - Tran Hung Dao) which was just started by the People's Committee of Ninh Kieu District (investor) on March 12. The construction period is 360 days, expected to be completed in March 2026.
Intersection No. 1 has an estimated compensation cost of about VND578 billion, affecting about 122 households with more than 480 people. The total area of recovered land is about 5,960m2. These days, households are hiring workers to dismantle and relocate the affected area to hand over the site to the investor.
This is a package under the Investment Project for the construction, renovation and expansion of 5 key intersections in the area, with a total investment of more than 1,196 billion VND. This project includes intersections: intersection No. 1 (Mau Than - 3 Thang 2 - Tran Hung Dao); intersection No. 2 (Mau Than - Nguyen Van Cu - Vo Van Kiet); intersection No. 3 (Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Van Cu); intersection No. 4 (Nguyen Van Linh - 3 Thang 2) and intersection No. 5 (Nguyen Van Linh - 30 Thang 4).
The investment project to build, renovate and expand 5 key intersections is of great significance in reducing traffic congestion, improving traffic capacity, contributing to improving urban aesthetics and promoting the socio-economic development of Ninh Kieu district in particular and Can Tho city in general.
