On the afternoon of November 14, right after discovering that the water level blocking the flow at the landslide site continued to rise rapidly and was at risk of breaking at any time, the Hung Son commune government (Da Nang city) urgently evacuated dozens of households from the dangerous area.
Mr. Zoram Buon - Chairman of Hung Son Commune People's Committee - said that the locality has just organized the evacuation of 84 households with 331 people from Glao village to the commune school, after a large-scale landslide occurred in Phat village - upstream of A Vuong river.

"The rocks and soil from the hill that collapsed completely blocked the flow, creating a huge accumulation of water. When we saw the water level continue to rise rapidly and there was a risk of breaking, we were forced to evacuate urgently to ensure the safety of the people," said Mr. Buon.
Militia forces, commune police, and border guards were mobilized to move people, furniture, and livestock out of locations at risk of further water or landslides. All households have now been temporarily arranged in the classrooms of the commune school, ensuring accommodation, drinking water and necessities.
According to Mr. Buon, the authorities are on duty 24/7 to monitor water level developments and survey new cracks appearing on the mountainside to proactively respond when there are bad situations.
The scene of the landslide in Pha village shows a whole hill being "ripped off", with rocks and soil burying many of the people's fields. The government warned that more landslides will continue to appear in this area, which is very dangerous.
As of 5:00 p.m. this afternoon, there were still 3 people suspected of being buried and unable to be contacted, including: Z forward Nho, Briu Thi Tep (Mr. Nho's wife) and Hoih Zi Nut, all residing in Pat village. The forces are approaching the scene but are facing many difficulties due to the terrain being cut off, and rocks and soil continuing to slide down.
