Equipping additional earthquake response tools
On October 7, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Quang Ngai province requested communes, wards and towns to compile statistics on the demand for rescue and relief equipment to make a list of supplies.
Tools such as camp tarps, concrete cutting holes, generators, life jackets, motorboats, water pumps, parachute wires, etc. are very necessary for militia and police forces when conducting rescue and relief in landslides, natural disasters, and earthquakes.
According to the authorities, the demand of communes for these types of vehicles is currently very large, and needs to be equipped early in 2025, especially for mountainous communes to proactively respond to earthquakes, floods, landslides, etc.

After a series of earthquakes caused great shaking in Mang Ri and Mang But mountainous areas - near the Upper Kon Tum hydropower plant - the authorities of the communes have stepped up propaganda, issued more than 34,000 notebooks and leaflets to guide on earthquake prevention and control, helping people improve their response skills.
Mang But commune has issued an official dispatch requesting the Provincial People's Committee to consider supporting additional funding to repair damage caused by the earthquake, such as schools and houses in the area.
Need to check the quality of dam works after earthquake
More importantly, the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Environment need to establish an inspection team to supervise investors of large hydropower projects in mountainous areas on the structure and quality of dams and dams; closely monitor if cracks or incidents appear.

Currently, the mountainous areas of Mang But, Mang Ri, Kon Plong communes have many large-scale hydropower plants such as Upper Kon Tum Hydropower Plant, Dak Dinh Hydropower Plant and Dak Re Hydropower Plant.
The Upper Kon Tum Hydropower Plant is the largest project with a capacity of 220 MW including 2 generators, annual electricity output reaching 1,094 million kWh, storage capacity of 145 million m3.
The Kon Tum Upper Hydropower Project is level I, designed to withstand earthquakes of level 7. The Dak Re reservoir dam (level I) is designed to withstand earthquakes of level 7, while the Dak Trinh reservoir dam (level I) is designed to withstand earthquakes of level 8.
There are other small and medium hydropower plants such as Dak Lo, Dak Lo 02, Dak Po Ne...
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, from 0:41 to 11:49 on October 6, in Mang Ri and Mang But communes (Quang Ngai province), there were 15 earthquakes, the largest of which was at 4.9 degrees Richter, causing strong shaking.
