Binh Dinh - Having his land wrongly confiscated, the nephew of the former Secretary of Vinh Thanh District Party Committee refused to return the land, but instead "demanded" compensation of more than 168 billion VND.

On January 21, Phu Phong Power Company - Binh Dinh Power Company announced the suspension of electricity supply to Mr. Nguyen Chi Tranh's household at Vinh Thanh Hot Spring Resort project (Vinh Thinh commune, Vinh Thanh district), starting at 8:00 a.m. this morning.

At the same time, Phu Phong Electricity invited Mr. Tranh to clarify the problems related to the electricity supply contract and confirm the electricity debt. The reason for the temporary suspension of electricity supply was because Mr. Tranh lacked documents on the subject of the contract and the purpose of electricity use.

According to Phu Phong Power Company, Vinh Thanh District People's Committee has decided to reclaim land for Vinh Thanh Hot Spring Resort project, and the business registration certificate is no longer valid. If Mr. Tranh has a confirmation from Vinh Thanh District People's Committee that the compensation is in progress, please provide it so that Phu Phong Power Company can resolve the electricity supply within the time limit according to the confirmation.

On the same day, Mr. To Hieu Trung - Chairman of Vinh Thanh District People's Committee said that Phu Phong Electricity had announced a power cut to Mr. Tranh's household.

Phu Phong Electricity leaders said that they cannot stop supplying electricity as announced because Mr. Tranh has responded.

"We invited Mr. Tranh but he did not come to work. If Mr. Tranh continues to not cooperate, we will take stronger measures to handle the situation. In the near future, we will invite Mr. Tranh and representatives of Vinh Thanh District People's Committee to work together to handle the situation according to regulations. If the conditions are not met, the company will stop supplying electricity," he said.

As Lao Dong reported, after the Binh Dinh Provincial Inspectorate exposed the violations, Vinh Thanh district issued a decision to revoke the red books and land illegally granted to the family of former Vinh Thanh District Party Secretary Nguyen Dinh Kim (more than 138 hectares), Ms. Vo Thi Anh Nhan (wife of former District People's Committee Chairman Tran Cong Sy - nearly 0.8 hectares) and Mr. Nguyen Chi Tranh (Mr. Kim's nephew - more than 10 hectares).

However, up to now, only the family of former District Party Secretary Nguyen Dinh Kim has returned more than 138 hectares of protective forest land, while Mr. Tranh and Ms. Nhan have not yet agreed to return the land. The land recovery work for Mr. Tranh and Ms. Nhan must go through an additional asset inventory stage because these two cases have arisen complaints and requests for compensation for construction costs on the recovered land.

Having nearly 0.8 hectares of land confiscated and being asked to stop all activities, Ms. Nhan refused to return the red book or return the land. Ms. Nhan authorized someone else to participate in resolving the case. The person authorized by Ms. Nhan requested compensation of 9.5 billion VND when the land was confiscated.

Similarly, Mr. Tranh also refused to return the red book and return more than 10 hectares of land when Vinh Thanh district issued an "order" to reclaim it. On the contrary, Mr. Tranh demanded compensation of 168.7 billion VND.
