On the afternoon of December 2, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of the Ministry of Public Security gave the above information.
Accordingly, regarding Clause 3, Article 10 of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety - regulating the use of safety equipment for children under 10 years old and under 1.35m tall when riding in cars, in the latest draft of the Law on Amendments and Supplements, a number of articles of 10 laws related to security and order after receiving comments from National Assembly deputies, the Government has amended as follows:
When transporting children under 10 years old and under 1.35m tall in a car, children must not sit in the same row as the driver, except for cars with only one row of seats; the driver must use and instruct on the use of appropriate safety equipment for children, except for passenger transport business cars.
Thus, the above regulation will exempt passenger transport vehicles from having to use safety equipment suitable for children, to ensure feasibility and to suit practical traffic conditions in Vietnam.
Children's safety equipment is a device that can ensure children's safety in sitting or lying in a car, designed to reduce the risk of injury to the user in case of a collision or a car suddenly decreases speed by limiting the movement of the child's body.
Equipment includes: seating system, cribs, lifting cushions... with child restraint belts and equipment attached to cars.
The Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of 10 laws related to security and order is being submitted to the 15th National Assembly, 10th session for approval and is expected to take effect from January 1, 2026.
