In December 2024, the Department of Information and Communications of Khanh Hoa province provided feedback on tourism business activities on Binh Ba and Binh Hung islands in Cam Ranh city.
Previously in 2015, the Prime Minister issued a regulation on ensuring security and safety of Cam Ranh Military Base with the following content: "...in particular, the area of Mui Hoi, Binh Ba Island, and Hon Chut cannot carry out or develop any type of tourism".
From this basis, Cam Ranh City People's Committee has issued many documents directing the implementation of many solutions to end tourism activities in Cam Binh commune, and has organized widespread propaganda on the media, installed many visual propaganda panels in the inland waterway port area, Binh Ba island, Binh Hung.
In addition, Cam Ranh City authorities coordinated with the Department of Information and Communications, Department of Tourism... to request businesses not to organize travel programs or advertise tourism products to visit Binh Ba Island, Hon Chut Island, Binh Hung Island.
Currently, at the inland waterway port area of Cam Ranh port, the Border Guard and Port Authority strictly inspect and control vehicles, information, and identification documents of passengers, and do not grant licenses for vehicles carrying tourists to and from Binh Ba island.
However, there are still some cases of taking advantage of visiting relatives or other legitimate reasons to go to the islands, causing difficulties for authorities in managing, verifying, and controlling people and vehicles in the inland waterway port area.
Binh Hung Island is located separately from the administrative center of Cam Binh Commune (Binh Ba Island), so local management is not yet regular and strict, especially since this is an area bordering Ninh Thuan Province, people and passengers travel to and from the island from Bai Kinh wharf area of Ninh Thuan Province.
Furthermore, the coordination in the management and control of people and vehicles passing through the island by the functional forces of Ninh Thuan province is not yet resolute, leading to the situation where many passengers and vehicles departing through the island are not strictly managed and controlled.
Up to now, Khanh Hoa province has had a working session with Ninh Thuan province to discuss and coordinate effectively in managing and strictly controlling people and vehicles passing through Binh Hung island.
