On November 23, the Office of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee announced that Mr. Dinh Van Thieu - Vice Chairman of the province, has just signed a directive on strengthening food poisoning prevention in Khanh Hoa province.
According to the assessment, the work of inspecting and supervising the implementation of food safety regulations in the area in recent times has had many limitations. As a result, food poisoning incidents have occurred with a large number of people poisoned.
In the first 10 months of 2024, there were 5 food poisoning cases in the province with 509 people infected, 1 death of unknown cause.
Faced with this situation, Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Province Dinh Van Thieu directed the Department of Health to strengthen inspections, checks, and surprise inspections of compliance with regulations on food safety conditions for establishments under its management; strictly handle violations, and resolutely suspend operations of establishments that do not ensure food safety.
In addition, the health sector informs, propagates, trains, and disseminates legal regulations on ensuring food safety, risks of food poisoning, and prevention of food poisoning at food service establishments, especially food service establishments near tourist attractions and areas.
Along with that, the Department of Education and Training will propagate and educate students not to use food products of unknown origin, expired, or unsafe products sold in areas near schools and purchased on electronic websites.
Timely and proactively coordinate with competent authorities to handle food safety incidents and food poisoning in schools under their management responsibility according to the Plan of the Inter-sectoral Steering Committee on Food Safety and Hygiene of Khanh Hoa province on promulgating the "Plan to respond to food poisoning in Khanh Hoa province".
