On the afternoon of September 3, the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) informed about the traffic safety and order situation during the 4-day National Day holiday on September 2.
On this occasion, the traffic police force applied science and technology in patrolling and controlling. In particular, the functional force used the VNECSGT App in patrolling and controlling on inter-line, focusing on National Highway 1A and expressways, and at the same time established 3 inspection teams to urge the police of local units.
During the 4-day holiday (August 31 to September 3), traffic accidents decreased in all 3 criteria on National Highway 1A. Of which, 20 traffic accidents occurred, killing 7 people and injuring 18 people. Compared to the same holiday period in 2023, the number of accidents decreased by 8 cases (28.6%), by 8 deaths (53.3%), and by 3 injuries (14.8%).
In which, the localities: Phu Yen, Soc Trang, Vinh Long reduced 3 criteria; Binh Dinh, Ca Mau, Da Nang, Dong Nai, Ninh Thuan, Quang Binh, Quang Nam, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue reduced 2 criteria.
Traffic police teams arranged 734 shifts, inspected 48,679 vehicles, recorded 7,534 violations (647 passenger cars, 921 trucks, 1,351 cars, 104 container trucks, 4,198 motorbikes, 13 other vehicles), fined over 14.6 billion VND; revoked 1,523 driving licenses, and detained 1,496 vehicles.
Compared to the same period in 2023, the number of controlled vehicles increased by 28,851 vehicles, the number of violations recorded and handled increased by 3,029 cases, and the estimated fine increased by over 5.6 billion VND.
Violations focused on handling were alcohol concentration violations in 1,239 cases (up 49%); drug violations in 4 cases.
At the same time, local police also discovered two cases of law violations. One case involved illegal immigration in Lang Son and the other involved transporting cigarettes without invoices and documents in Quang Nam.
During the 4-day holiday, there was 1 accident on the highways that did not cause any human casualties, damaging 5 cars. Compared to the same period in 2023, there was 1 less accident, the number of deaths remained the same, and 2 fewer injuries.
The patrol teams inspected 3,858 vehicles, issued 474 violations, fined an estimated VND2 billion, and revoked 297 driving licenses. The most common violations were speeding (209 cases) and entering the emergency lane (30 cases).
In addition, the surveillance camera system also detected 196 violations. Police stopped vehicles and recorded 14 cases and issued fines to 182 cases.
On the highways, the traffic police force received information and feedback via hotline number 19008099, including 8 calls (2 reports of traffic collisions on the route and 2 reports of traffic collisions in the area of local police), and 4 calls from people asking for support with traffic incidents.
The authorities also supported 231 vehicles with reflective stickers, placed warning signs in case of incidents, distributed 585 leaflets, and provided instructions on safe driving on the highway.
