Recently, due to unusual weather developments, the long cracks in the Vi-ba hill area have become increasingly serious. The subsidence extended hundreds of meters made households at the foot of the hill constantly worried. Many locations of landslides have dragged near residential areas.
According to the reporter on November 28, Vi-ba hill has a large slope, above it there are many telecommunications works, below it is a high positive slope. On the hill, many cracks appeared long and several meters wide.
Many hectares of tea trees on Vi-ba hill have also sunk, with rocks and soil lying around. Below, dozens of households are only about 5 to 10 meters from the foot of the hill. Landslides and rock and soil have overflowed into some infrastructure works such as soccer fields and fences. The authorities have now placed warning signs and stretched ropes to ensure safety at dangerous locations.
According to local people, landslides in the Vi-ba hill area have occurred since 2022. However, at that time, it was only fragile, not to the point of seriousness. Recently, cracks have appeared more densely, causing landslides that are dangerous for households.
The house is located near the foot of Vi-ba hill, Ms. Dang Thi Hong Anh (Group 10, An Tuong ward) said that people are extremely worried about the landslide. Many nights of sleeplessness due to insecurity. The cracks are getting wider, some locations have collapsed close to the edge of houses, causing unsafety.
"The biggest worry is that every time it rains or the weather is complicated, people have to evacuate immediately, especially for children. However, this is only temporary, and evacuation cannot continue forever. Hopefully, there will soon be a solution, and embankments can be built to ensure the safety of the people," said Ms. Hong.
With the same concern, Mr. Dao Van Hao (An Tuong ward) said that his family had suffered hundreds of millions of VND in damage when rocks and soil from Vi-ba hill collapsed and buried the brick factory area in 2022. Currently, the cracks have widely widened, posing a potential risk of insecurity, and a final solution is needed soon so that people can settle down and make a living.
According to Mr. Vu Duy Minh - Head of the Front Working Committee of Residential Group 11, An Tuong Ward, many landslides with a depth of 3 - 5 meters have made people very worried. "Every time there is a flood, the cracks and subsidence get more widespread. At previous meetings with voters, there were opinions reflecting on this issue to higher levels. Every time the weather is bad, the residential group also goes to propagate and advise people to evacuate to ensure safety," Mr. Minh added.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Do Dinh Dat - Chairman of An Tuong Ward People's Committee - informed that after the locality reported on the landslide situation in the Vi-ba hill area, the provincial authorities conducted a survey to have a final handling plan.
The locality has now put up warning signs and put up ropes to ensure safety. In particular, the Ward People's Committee regularly disseminates to each resident about how to recognize and prevent landslides and sends forces to be on duty and monitor regularly. During the rainy and windy days, people were evacuated from the danger zone.
Previously, in August 2025, the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province announced an emergency situation regarding natural disasters caused by landslides in residential groups 10, 11, An Tuong ward. The authorities have put up signs and isolated dangerous areas. Request localities to prepare appropriate forces, means, and equipment to support and respond when there are natural disasters.
