Regarding the incident of 3 directional signs on the nearly 10 km long route of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway, passing through Phu Tho province - showing false signs in the information reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, currently, the expressway management unit has completed the handling and repair.
On February 26, responding to reporters, a representative of Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) said: "After receiving the feedback (February 24), by the afternoon of the following day, February 25, the route management unit had completed the adjustment of the signs. Thank you Lao Dong Newspaper for timely information".
On February 26, traveling on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway from the IC7 Intersection of Viet Tri City to the IC9 Intersection of Phu Tho Town, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper noted that 3 directional signs had their information adjusted.
The sign near the IC7 Intersection of Viet Tri city (about Km49) has been adjusted from "Phu Tho Town 35 km" to "Phu Tho Town 21 km".
The sign near the IC8 Intersection of Phu Ninh District (about Km54) has been adjusted from "Phu Tho Town 30 km" to "Phu Tho Town 16 km".
The sign near the Km57 rest stop has been adjusted from "Phu Tho Town 27 km" to "Phu Tho Town 14 km".
Through measurement using Google Maps, it can be seen that the number of kilometers adjusted on the 3 signs has accurately stated the distance from the location of the sign to the central area of Phu Tho town.
According to the reporter's investigation, the project to periodically repair damaged road surfaces and traffic safety systems on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway with a total investment of more than 241 billion VND has selected contractors for construction. In the coming time, the road surface and items related to traffic safety (including signs) will be repaired simultaneously along the entire route.
Previously, on February 24, Lao Dong Newspaper published an article "Incomprehensible with a series of signs on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway", reflecting on the fact that 3 signs in the area near the IC7 Intersection of Viet Tri City, near the IC8 Intersection of Phu Ninh District, near the Km57 rest stop in Lam Thao District - pointed to Phu Tho town, a further distance from reality.
The Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway section passing through Phu Tho province has a total length of more than 60 km, with 5 intersections to districts and cities: IC7 intersection to Viet Tri city, IC8 to Phu Ninh district, IC9 to Phu Tho town, IC10 to Cam Khe district and IC11 to Ha Hoa district.
