On October 10, in Phu Quoc City (Kien Giang), the local Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade of Kien Giang to organize the 14th Conference on Industrial Promotion of Southern Provinces and Cities in 2024.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Ngo Quang Trung - Director of the local Department of Industry and Trade - said that the industrial promotion policy has been implemented synchronously and seriously in the past time, receiving the attention of sectors at all levels from the direction to the guidance of the organization and implementation. In 2024, industrial promotion will move into the year of accelerating the implementation of the National Industrial Promotion Program for the period 2021 - 2025 as approved in Decision No. 1881 of the Prime Minister and the Industrial Promotion Program for the period issued by localities.
In recent times, industrial promotion has played an important role in supporting rural enterprises and industrial establishments to overcome difficulties, restore production and business activities, and stabilize and develop.
At the conference, delegates contributed opinions, discussed and exchanged contents on evaluating the achieved results, existing limitations in the implementation process; identified the causes to propose solutions; exchanged experiences and lessons from the practice of organizing and implementing industrial promotion activities; proposed specific and practical solutions to continue innovating and improving the effectiveness of direction and operation; and coordination between the Central and local levels to resolve difficulties arising from practice in the process of organizing and implementing industrial promotion activities.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, the Southern region consists of 20 provinces and cities, where many outstanding advantages converge and there are conditions for developing industry and services, leading the industrialization and modernization of the country. This region is a place with strong economic growth with an attractive investment environment, a young, eager-to-learn workforce, which has been creating favorable conditions and potential development opportunities.
The total budget for industrial promotion implemented in 2023 by 20 provinces and cities in the Southern region is more than 81 billion VND. Industrial promotion activities have supported the construction of 3 demonstration models of new product production techniques, new technologies and pilot models applying cleaner production; supported 196 establishments to apply advanced machinery and scientific and technological advances in production stages and environmental pollution treatment.
In the coming time, industrial promotion activities will continue to develop quality group projects and pilot projects for 2025. Strengthen inspection, supervision and evaluation of industrial promotion activities in the area. Focus on integrating with other projects and target programs to encourage and attract capital from individuals and organizations to invest in developing IT. Strengthen linkages between provinces and cities in the region and linkages between regions to exchange experiences in industry development and industrial promotion activities.
