As of the morning of April 2, information from the Border Guard Command of Binh Thuan province said that 20 crew members on the fishing boat that had been broken near Phu Quy island had been rescued and were being taken to Phu Quy island.

Previously, on the evening of April 1, the owner of fishing boat BTh 97877 TS arrived at the Phu Quy Port Border Guard Station to report that fishing boat BTh 97877 TS, with a capacity of 570 CV, 23m long, fishing logistics, with more than 20 workers, captained by Mr. M.V.H (born in 1975, residing in Phu Quy district). When the ship was operating in the sea area about 27 nautical miles south of Phu Quy Island when the water broke and it was at risk of sinking, the captain requested emergency rescue support.
The weather in the above sea area has Northeast winds of level 6, gusting to level 7, waves from 3 - 3.5 meters high. Boats operating near the sea area where the boat was in distress were notified by the border guards to support and rescue fishing boat BTh 97877 TS.

The Phu Quy Port Border Guard Station used CN ship BP 11.19.01 along with 14 officers and soldiers who were ordered to attack and rescue.

At 22:50 on April 1, CN ship 09 BP 11.19.01 approached the location of fishing boat BTh 97877 TS in distress and rescued 20 workers. The health of the crew members is stable. After verifying information from the captain, fishing boat BTh 97877 TS had 22 workers. Currently, there are 2 crew members who have not been found.
At around 3:00 a.m. on February 2, CN09 BP ship on January 11 returned to Phu Quy Island. At the scene, there are currently 2 fishing boats continuing to search for the remaining 2 crew members.
